Hi everyone. I have a lot of weight to lose, by weight I mean FAT not MUSCLE. How can I make sure I keep muscle but lose fat?

I'm 5ft5 (165cm),
24 years old
90kg
And I breastfeed my 4 month old baby.

How many calories should I eat to lose 2 lbs a week?

Right now this is what I'm doing good. .do you think it's OK? ?

1900 Calories a day
3x per week HIIT 10-15minutes
2300-2500 on HIIT days.

Looks good to me. Losing weight while breastfeeding has been a little tough for me because it's made me a lot hungier, but when I can keep the hunger at bay the weight flies off.
I'd recommend taking that baby on lots of walks (depending on the weather of course).

I've got a 1 year old now that I'm still breastfeeding. Feel free to add me.

It would be pretty tough to lose 2lbs per week while breastfeeding and not affect your milk supply.

I am not going to comment on your calorie goal as I dont really know how active you are on an everyday basis. Though I will add that an extra 400-600 cal on the days you do 10-15 mins HIIT is eat going to be more than what you burn doing the exercise.

You will no doubt lose some muscle but weight bearing exercise and enough protein shoudl help reduce the amount of muscle you do lose.

I'm breastfeeding my 5 month old. I have found that eating around 1400 works best for me.

So do a little trial and error to see at what calorie deficit you lose beat.

I honestly have no idea about breastfeeding or how many calories it burns, but it seems like your calorie intake is really high for someone aiming to lose weight, especially adding 400-600 calories on days when you're only adding 10 to 15 minutes of exercise. Even 1900 seems high unless you're really active or breastfeeding really does burn hundreds of calories a day.

I am 166cms tall too. I was 65kgs before pregnant, Then 85 then now back to around 70kgs after 12 weeks.

I BF too and 1430 work for me with exercise 4-5 times a week (mainly walk my pram) I am not starving, produce enough milk. My baby gain good weight.

But you have to do what works for you, everyone is different. Good luck :)

If you are exclusively breast feeding you burn 750-850 calories more per day than someone who is not breastfeeding. I am exclusively breast feeding a 3 month old i add 300 calories a day to my total of 1660 (I'm 5'9 168 lbs and wanting to loose 1lb per week). From all the research I have done about loosing while exclusively breastfeeding the 300 extra calories is the lowest you should go, some women eat the 500 extra because of the concern of dwindling their milk supply. I have not noticed a problem sticking with my 300 extra for now. But yes please eat extra you are growing a human :)

I set my mfp goal to maintain, and let the breastfeeding calories be my deficit. I've lost 15 kg in the last 9 months, going from a bmi of 26 to 20.8 (same height as you OP, gone from 72kg to 56.5)
I eat 50-70% of exercise calories as estimated by mfp/mapmyrun. I run 14-20km 3 times a week, and do 4 hours hiit at the gym. Walk about 10,000 steps a day. Still breastfeeding my youngest who is 19 months old.

    Hiya,
We've had our babies quiet close together how lovely. Can I ask how much you weigh, and how much you exercise in a week??

I personally don't make any (well very negligent amount anyway) milk when I've eaten that much. I do hiit 3X A week which apparently burns around 200 for 20 mons and then around 60 the next day.

Do you think 2000- 2200 a day is too much??

You seen to be Very active, are you happy with 15kg loss in 9 months? Or do you think its too slow/fast? How many calories a day do you eat and what's your weight/height ?? ")
