  • You DID just admit it! I had to admit that to myself too...and I know it will be a long road ahead of me. I think for this to work we need to be honest to ourselves. Honest about how much we weigh and honest about what we did to get ourselves here. Honest about everything we put into our mouths and the exercise we do (or…
  • Does the box also have the nutritional information for unprepared? Plug that and your chicken into the recipe calculator and...viola!
  • Mexican food, with gobs of full fat cheese and sour cream!
  • I've tried the pumpkin too, with both a spice cake and chocolate...yummy! You'd never know the pumpkin was in there, it's dense and moist! I've also tried a cake mix with diet soda...that was pretty good too and you can mix up the flavors like orange soda in a white cake mix or cherry soda in a chocolate cake mix. If you…
  • I had a huge problem with sweets in the evening. I'd make a pan of brownies after dinner almost every night and between me and the kids they'd be gone by morning. I just quit eating that stuff cold turkey...it was REALLY hard, but after about a week I didn't want them anymore. Currently I have 3 boxes of brownie mix in the…
  • Well I was going to say "just don't buy it", but if you live with your parents I guess that's not an option. I too have junk in my house for my kids so I deal with this a little bit...although I've gotten them to start eating healthier too. Any chance you could convince your parents in your quest to get healthy? Other than…
  • I looked at your food diary, and I didn't notice that logged your exercise. You should be keeping track of how many calories you burn and eating those back. Could be that you're not eating enough. I also noticed you're not logging your water consumption...are you drinking water? You may want to start keeping track of your…
  • That's wonderful! You must be so proud of all your hard work!
  • I've lost 22 lbs but I can't see any difference, but I have a LOT to lose. I've gone from 258 to 236. My husband says he's noticed by my kids don't...I think the hubby is being generous. I think my big problem is I carry almost all my weight on the bottom...huge hips and legs...all the way down to my cankles! The weight…
  • I haven't picked a final goal weight yet. My first mini goal was to get back down to 215, the weight I was when I met my husband (half way there!). My second goal is to get below 200, I haven't seen that in almost two decades. I guess I am aiming for around 160ish, but if I feel and look good at 175 then I'll be happy.
  • 1.) What is your calorie goal per day? I started out at 1200/day but upped it to 1380 2.) How many days per week do you stick to it? Everyday...and I try to eat back most of my exercise calories. 3.) How much, on average, do you lose per week? I've lost 21.5 lbs since I started April 5...that averages out to about 5 lbs a…
  • I've been drinking between 12-15 8 oz glasses a day...I've had three kids so the ol' bladder ain't what it used to be! I go to the bathroom every 15 minutes. I drink my first 5-6 glasses really early in the morning and then don't drink anything for a few hours so I can get my running around done (grocery store...etc). When…
  • Drink a big glass of water and go for a walk or something!

  • I know how you feel :(
  • Wow! I'm overwhelmed by the friend requests...this is so great!
  • What about doing a baked chicken instead of fried, or a veggie lasagna.
  • Yes, mine is Renee...my daughter's in on there too, Paige.
  • MFP set my calories at 1200 and I was hungry all the time too. I reset my activity level from sedentary to slightly active and it upped it to 1380 calories. I am still losing weight and find it much easier to stay within my calories.
  • I cook everything I eat. I really HATE to cook so I normally pick a day or two a week and make large quantities of healthy meals to portion out and freeze for later. Then I always have something handy when I get hungry.
  • No, don't skip dinner! Have some type of lean protein and a veggie. Carbs are in a lot of things but there are good carbs and bad carbs. Anything processed (white bread, white pasta etc.) are "bad" carbs. Try to stick to whole grains like oatmeal (not the sugary flavored stuff), brown rice, quinoa to name a few.
  • This is the recipe I use... http://www.food.com/recipe/taco-seasoning-mix-2642 I leave out the salt though...my whole family likes it.
  • I made this last night, without the Rotel though...too much sodium! It was delish and I'm having it again for lunch today with some corn tortillas!
  • Yes, it's meatless... Ingredients 3/4 cup dry lentils, cleaned 2 cups chicken broth or 2 cups vegetable broth or 2 cups beef broth 1 (16 ounce) can crushed tomatoes 1 medium green bell pepper, chopped 1 medium onion, chopped 2 -3 garlic cloves, crushed 2 tablespoons chili powder 1/2 teaspoon cumin 1/4 teaspoon allspice 1…
  • You are AMAZING! My husband was diagnosed with diabetes several years ago stemming from gaining a tremendous amount of weight from medications he was on. He was very sick with DKA and spent a week in the hospital while they tried to get his numbers down. He was insulin dependent but turned it all around with diet. Sadly,…
  • How fun! I would spend some time doing some research and finding recipes for things you like...there are many great recipe websites like allrecipes.com, food. com, and skinnytaste.com. to name a few. Sometimes the recipes need to be tweaked a little bit, like omitting oil for sauteing (a good non-stick pan and a little…
  • Lentil chili is really good. Basically just your favorite chili recipe but substitute lentils for the meat.
  • This is very similar to the recipe I make, never thought of trying oats though, typically I use bread crumbs. I have also added grated zucchini...great way to maintain the moisture (and sneak in some veggies) without adding oil.
  • I can't wrap my brain around the greek yogurt thing, sounds SO disgusting to me. Personally I like the Starkist Tuna Creations, they come in flavors like sweet and spicy, lemon pepper, smoky hickory....you don't have to add anything to them and they taste pretty darn good!
  • I can understand too not wanting to open your diary, but do think its a good idea to open it to friends (that's how I have mine). It really is hard to tell where you could be making improvements without seeing what you're actually eating. Sodium is a killer though. Over the Easter weekend I was careful to keep my calories…
  • What I like to do is just tweak regular recipes that my family likes to make them healthier. There are a couple of good web sites for recipes Allrecipes.com and food.com for example. Most of the time my family doesn't even notice the changes. We do stir-fry a lot because you can bulk it up with lots of veggies and rice and…
