Made this last night, and everyone loved it. It's very filling (because of the oats, I guess), moist and tasty. Don't think of skipping the olive oil because it would be far to dry then. I'm going to play with this recipe, i.e. add chilli, coriander and lime, or harissa and chopped apricots.
# 1 tbsp olive oil
# 1 large onion , finely chopped
# 2 garlic cloves , crushed
# 85g porridge oats
# 450g/1lb minced turkey
# 1 large carrot , grated
# 1 egg , beaten
Saute the onions and garlic in the oil then add the oats and fry for a few minutes. Mix with all the other ingredients in a large bowl. Divide into 8 and shape into patties. I fried mine in a ridged pan with spray oil.
Served for the family with new potato salad made with extra light mayo, green salad and wholemeal buns. I had mine in a Weightwatchers pitta with extra light mayo and a tsp sweet chilli dipping sauce (269 Kcal for my meal).

Chicken would work equally well. And I'm working on a tuna burger....0

Pretty darn good. I was a bit impatient so I skipped the carrots but will throw that in next time.

This is one of the first recipes I tried from MFP. Easy and good. Great great extender too. Not only on calories but on budget.0

This is very similar to the recipe I make, never thought of trying oats though, typically I use bread crumbs. I have also added grated zucchini...great way to maintain the moisture (and sneak in some veggies) without adding oil.0
