You could run or lift in the morning and do the other at night if possible.

Get out there and run. At least try to run 5 days a week, even if it is only 1.5 miles.

I use Endomomdo and then upload my file to Strava. I have noticed a big difference in the calories. For instance: Endomondo: 40.1 miles at 16.4mph 1789 calories Strava: 40.10 miles at 16.4mph 1130 calories. http://www.shapesense.com/fitness-exercise/calculators/activity-based-calorie-burn-calculator.aspx

The Calorie calculation on strava seems to be off from all the other gps programs. I use endomondo on my android phone and then upload to strava.

I am glad you had fun at your event. My first event was a wash out. We were able to complete the first event, but the rain got to heavy so they called the race. But it is an addiction.

I use EAS Whey, Pure Protein, or whatever is on sale....I only use about half a scoop with some a fat free milk and some nesquik for a recovery drink after a long bike ride...most of my protein comes from beans, pasta, yogurt, fat free milk, and lean meats.

Cycling is very easy on the knees. When I run my knees hurt, but cycling is very easy on the joints.
-
My advice eat clean, eat low calories, and exercise hard. Try interval exercises.

If you have a Sams Club, they sale the 5lb of EAS 100% whey cheap. It's in a bag instead of a container though. It taste pretty good.

I have read that the protein powders digest faster, however some people do not like the taste. I sometimes eat a can of chiken or tuna(with wter) for the protein after a workout. They are a good source of protein and very lean. But you can't eat tuna everyday.

I tried it and it works. I still use some of the workouts now, but I just like to get out a ride my bicycle. I love to cycle.
