  • They are making the bar code reader Premium only?! That will make the basic version virtually unusable! I guess I had better start looking for a replacement then….
  • I’m another that’s been using the app for 10 years off and on. Initially I was really good and logged everything on the basis of ‘that’s close enough’ and not getting anal about it. I lost 25lbs and hit my target weight. After maintaining the weight more or less for 18 months I decided I didn’t want to be a slave to…
  • I’m going down that route myself and looking for mutual support and ideas.

  • Well there could be several. On the face of it, it is the definition of a binge eater, and the reference to a friend who is a nutritionalist is classic justification. One would hope the ‘friend’ would pick up on this. Progression could be to bulimia, anorexia, laxative abuse etcetera. As has been said throughout the post,…
  • I’ve just started logging again after trying to go solo for 6 months. I only put back 5-8lbs, but this whole lockdown and working from home has made it so hard I decided I needed to see what was going on. It is so much easier. I use a lot of estimating, but it has highlighted that my portion control had crept out of whack.
  • ‘Reverse dieting’ is a new term for me, but if you want to gain a little, adjust your calii on rise a little and increase exercise a little. Allow 2 weeks to see what effect it has had, and adjust accordingly. As an aside, don’t let your industry bully you into being underweight. The Fashion Industry has such a high…
  • Can you swim? That would be low impact. I’m not a great one for exercise - walking the dog usually but he has done in his cruciate ligament and is on strict rest! Otherwise, the sad reality is eat less 😡!
  • You can’t target where the weight comes off, but you can target where muscle goes on.
  • Binge eating like that is not healthy, physically or mentally. Seriously consider professional help before it develops into something far more sinister.
  • It will. Once a week, buck naked, at the same day and time.
  • Preparation is key, but I can’t preach because I’m as bad.....
  • I have done the same but crept up over a few months. Need to start again...

  • I need that too. Just starting to get back into things again after 6 months out
  • I used to track daily. Need to start again. I don’t want to be a slave to it, but it is a valuable tool.
  • Go back to what works for you and stop overthinking things. All methods are an estimation!

  • I have become more relaxed about logging and rarely complete my diary. My breakfast and lunches are pretty consistent, so it is only my evening meal which I need to watch. However this has recently become easier now they I have to keep an eye on my cholesterol. I have largely given up snacking between meals and I weigh…
  • You are over-complicating this! The calorie count is for the recipie. Divide the complete recipie into as many portions as you want, and divide the 1766 calories by that number. Simples!
  • I got Salter scales with BF function and never use it now. Whilst they are accurate for weight measurement, Im not convinced they were any way accurate or reliable at BF measurement. Personally, I would focus on a good pair of basic digital scales.
  • Many scales have trouble differentiating between fat and water. Unless you get really expensive ones that can do this, it can only really be taken as a rough guide. To me, it’s not important. How my clothes fit is more so.
  • I only weigh once a week, the natural daily fluctuations drive me mad. I weigh at roughly the same time, with no clothes for consistency. I always put the scales on the same bit of tiled floor and weigh at least twice - when the battery starts to go they get erratic, so not getting the same numbers shows this up. Weighing…
  • Im refreshing my FL for pretty much the same reasons for maintenance. I’ll send you a request...
  • Somethings working for you! Congratulations!!’
  • I struggled until I found this site and embraced the community. I also found a reason to lose the weight - for me it was that my T-shirt was the only thing holding my stomach in. It had to go!
  • Contrary to a lot of comments here I do find eating after 9 causes me to gain so I don’t. Unless I’ve been down the pub and had a pint or 5 in which case self discipline goes out the window and I have a tendency to just trough out. Also, I couldn’t do IF because I get too grumpy when hungry and then trough out.
  • Alternatively just work out what was in the food and add the ingredients separately.... Fish, bun, cheese...

  • The same way you would deal with any upset stomach. Keep it simple and wait.
  • Still way to many choices.... I suspect you don’t lack ingredients, but do lack imagination. There are so many food groups left... Pulses, chicken, pork, venison, nuts, seeds, fruits, fungi..... Would you eat a pizza??? With tomato, ham, mushroom, and a little mozzarella? How about a burger, with onion, salad, tomato.…
  • Plan ahead if possible by keeping other meals lighter. Drink diet sodas or water, not something with alcohol in it or fruit juice. Skip starters and deserts, and apply common sense as to what possible ingredients may be. Clearly a cheese laden enchilada is going to be a worse choice than the chicken salad. Lastly, good…
