Give up cabs - Dr’s orders!
Not quite a new user, but as I was weeding out my friends list I realised a) I have been registered with MFP for 10 years now. b) I haven’t really been using it for probably 3 years. In that time I originally lost 25lbs and hit my goal weight of 150lbs, and have since drifted back up to 161lbs. My Dr has recently told me I…

Dr’s orders - abandon carbs!

I’m back!

Wellies!!!
Here's a serious question for you dog walkers out there, preferably those in the UK! At this time of year, a good pair of wellies are invaluable for walking across the fields. I have had cheap wellies and more expensive wellies. But here's the rub...... I have had 2 pairs of Hunters. Each pair lasted just about a year.…

Bored
I'm getting bored with my mid week breakfast but it strikes a good balance for speed of preparatiin, calories and keeping me going until lunchtime. How do you maintain this balance??

Chia seeds
Chia seeds are held up as a 'cure all' food on the internet claiming to cure all sorts of things and boost the production of hormones such as testosterone. What I find on the internet is usually from a company trying to sell me a bucketfull, so I am always skeptical. Is there anyone with some experience out there?? What is…

Chia seeds
i hear, and see, a lot on the Internet about chia seeds. In a lot of cases this seems to be contradictory. The simple question is: Do they live up to the hype???

Kids travelling alone.......
The Daily Mail have printed a story that has caused divided opinion in the office. I support the mother for taking a realistic approach to everyday life. It would be interesting to get a more worldly opinion!!…

Constantly tired
These last few months I seem to be constantly knackered, particularly in the evening. Tonight is no exception, despite having reigned in my bed time by about an hour (I used to regularly turn in after midnight but am now reasonably consistent at 11pm) I will often have to have a nap in the afternoon and since driving is a…

Debate
I cannot believe the debate on the radio at the moment. The basic story is: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/m42-reopens-after-bridge-threat-2802956 OK, it's the Mirror, but the story is correct. If I ever get to the point where I want to end it all, I would hope for a little more compassion than that expressed by so…

Calling all bakers!!
OK, a challenge for all you home bakers out there. I have 2 quince bushes laden with fruit. Every year I say to myself that I must do something with the fruit rather than letting it rot on the ground. But what can you do with quince??? I guess I have a couple of lbs to use.

I'm just not satisfied any more........
I seem to be going through one of those phases where no matter what I eat, it doesn't seem to satisfy me. I don't feel hungry, but I am not really enjoying my food and I finish my dinner and think OK, what next? It's at times like this that I start eating loads of crap all through the evening. It will probably last a few…

Plea se don't shoot me
This question may offend some, but that is not my intention. I seriously want to know how what people think... OK, here goes..... Since I have been on this journey I notice more people who could do with losing some weight. At the sales meeting, most of my colleagues suddenly have a spare tyre to to lose. I go down to the…

The Holy Grail????
A story about an injection to suppress the appetite is plastered all over the front page of the Express newspaper http://www.express.co.uk/news/health/414876/Wonder-jab-to-fight-fat-and-wipe-out-hunger-pangs I normally ignore the Express - IMO it is not much better than The Sun or The Mirror, but this caught my eye for…

Courses!
Saturday was a great day with a 4-hour session of Jujitsu with our 6th Dan Soke. My son complained 'everything hurt' this morning so he mised his regular Aikido class. That was also a good class taken by our Hanshi, with new ways of doing basics - we currently have a lot of new students so it is a good time to go over…

I can't be the only one with this problem......
Tonight I am stopping in a hotel for the evening due to work commitments. It's something I need to do a few times a month, so nothing new there. Tonight there was good food, and a live jazz band. My problem is the usual pub dinner followed by (typically) 3 pints of beer. The result is it trashes my calorie intake and I end…
