  • "Binge-Eating Support Group" - It's still not hugely active, but has a little more activity than this one.
  • Meeeeee always! There is a larger binge eating group that's a little more active but not much.
  • So excited to "meet" you all! I'll send out friend requests in the next 24-48 hours!
  • Hey all! I'm a long-time MFP user, but took a bit of a hiatus over the past year. I turned 30 about 5 months ago, so I figured it was time to switch the 30 Somethings group! Super excited to be here. Three facts about me: (1) I don't weigh, after a long history of eating disorders I find that the scale is mostly…
  • I grew up near Gatlinburg and my family home is within walking distance of the GSM National Park! I truly believe there is transformative power to be found during a long walk in nature. A big inspiration for my weight loss is to increase my stamina for hiking. So happy you enjoyed my beautiful mountains!
  • I don't have health insurance, so my doctor prescribed me generic Adderall which is in the same family as VyVanse but not quite the same, with the hopes that it would work similarly without costing me an arm and a leg. I did have some success with it, but it was more like it gave me a "break" from the intense urges giving…
  • Those cycles are incredibly hard to break, I've found myself in them many times. Three or four days eating WAY too low of calories, then a week of constant binging. If there's an easy fix, I certainly haven't found it. I just have to make myself acknowledge that though eating extremely low calories may seem like a way to…
  • That is the downside of Topiramate, it doesn't last forever! Good luck finding a counselor. I'm so lucky that my school provides one for us. It's made such a difference for me in addressing the reasons for my ED and in learning mindfulness to work towards resisting binges.
  • Mmm... Roasted broccoli and mushrooms Mashed sweet potato with cinnamon Zucchini "noodles" with marinara sauce Brussels sprouts with bacon Now I'm hungry!
  • Sometimes I get frustrated with it. When I stop and think, it's usually because I'm mad about other things though. I'm a medical student, and sometimes when I get overwhelmed with school and all the pressure to be perfect in your classes and never be wrong and never not know an answer, and I just stop and think - none of…
  • I'm on day 26 and I'm on the fence about it. I've lost 15.4 pounds so far (you're not technically supposed to weigh or log food during the 30 days but I have to for a MFP challenge I participate in) so it obviously works for weight loss, but in terms of the other health benefits the tout... I don't know. I'm not craving…
  • My personal feeling on the matter is that you shouldn't worry too much about going over on sugar. If your breakfast was a bag of Skittles, sure, that would be a little sugary. But there's a lot of natural sugar in fruit and there's nothing wrong with that. I go over on fat almost every single day, but I know that it's…
  • OP - I agree with everyone. Eggs are awesome and shouldn't cause any negative changes in cholesterol. Also, I agree that hardboiled isn't really necessary. Your doctor probably recommended that because "eggs" for a lot of people might mean fried in a crap ton of butter, covered in cheese, or something like that. I fry two…
  • Definitely my upper body - waist, bra line, etc. My @$$ will likely be here for eternity.
  • When I was hiking a lot my go to was an apple with peanut butter. You can get those pacs of Jif-To-Go and throw one in your pack and soak the apples in salt water for a minute or two to keep them from going brown. I always kept something like a granola bar in my pack in case of emergency but usually the apple/peanut butter…
  • I fell in love with a dress from the Prabal Gurung line for Target (pictured below) when it came out a while ago. When I went to buy it, they only had one dress left, a size 10. At that point I was a size 20/22 but I swore that I would one day wear that dress! I'm now a size 14/16. Not there yet, but I'm coming for it!
  • Losing 20 pounds by then would be amazing! March 20th is my birthdays so that would bring me to 80 pounds lost by my 29th birthday. Feel free to add me, I'll join you in your goal!
  • When I started I wrote out a list of lots of reasons why I want to make this change. Some were vanity, some health, some pride - but as many reasons as I could think of. When I'm feeling like I want to quit I go back and read all those reasons and remember it's worth it to push through the hard parts.
  • You're on the right track! When I first started out on MFP I cut out alcohol completely for four months. Afterwards I let it back in just for "special" occasions - wine with dinner at a nice restaurant, cocktails with girlfriends, etc. It was manageable but I generally think I do better just saying no completely. If the…
  • Hahahaha - you gotta go #2... you have to push on... I'm sorry, I'm apparently 12. Keep at it, OP!
  • Just requested to join the group. I started on 1/5 and I'm on day 13!
  • I had to unfriend a girl I went to church with growing up because she was messaging me all the time asking if I was "ready" to commit to Advocare. Mind you, this is a girl I have neither seen nor spoken to in ten years and our only interaction was her sending me messages wanting me to buy stuff from her. No thanks.
  • No ma'am! I started with 160 to lose and I still have 100.4 to go, but remember - doing what's best for the one, single body you'll ever have is the most important thing you can do! My advice would be: (1) Don't try to do everything at once. Don't pledge that you're going to eat below your target AND make all your food at…
  • I have just a smidge over 100 to lose but I started with 160 to lose! Anyone is welcome to add me!
  • I second what everyone else has said. I used to buy the pre-cooked chicken at the store, but (1) it never tasted very good and had lots of icky parts, (2) it had lots of additives that are probably not the best for you, and (3) it's SO expensive!! I now make my chicken for the week on Sunday, and either throw it in the…
  • I've struggled with Binge Eating Disorder for years and it's only been recently that I've finally been able to exercise some control over it. For me, I find thing BED behavior is far worse when I'm overly restrictive with my dieting, so it's important for me to get enough to eat and to let myself indulge in the foods I…
  • I'm waiting (for eternity, apparently) for my BodyMedia FIT to come. I picked that model because most of the activity trackers, such as FitBits, are step based. A pretty significant amount of my exercise comes from lifting and I didn't want that not to register with my tracker.
  • I try to mix up my smoothies but I always seem to come back to my all time favorite. It's super delicious and very filling! 2-3 cups spinach or kale (I try to mix it up) 1 cup strawberries 3/4 cup blueberries 1 tbsp chia seeds (soaked in water for a few minutes) 1.5 cups almond milk Sweetener to taste
  • I've lost 68 pounds so far and to be honest the only people who have commented are people who know I'm working to lose weight. Sure, it would be nice for others to notice, but I trust that they are noticing, they are just choosing not to comment for whatever reason. I was with a friend last summer who ran into someone she…
  • I'd actually done the calculation once at IIFYM but had gone to other sites since I read elsewhere on MFP that other calculators were better. I feel MUCH more comfortable with the numbers using the Mifflin-St Jeor formula since it would only increase my daily intake by approximately 250 calories. This is a big change for…
