Got together with my future husband on 3rd February 1978 and we married in September 1981. We're like chalk and cheese - pretty much opposite in everything. I like to read. He doesn't. I love to run and hate doing weights. He loves to do weights and hates to run! I love documentarys. He preferes soaps! He loves beach…

A few drops of lavender essential oil on your pillow (and in a warm bath before bedtime too if you have a bath) then load a talking book onto your ipod (or even a hypnosis relaxation session) Set your ipod to switch off after 30 minutes though otherwise you'll miss most of the book!

how much you burn depends on many factors, including how heavy you are and how hard you're working. The only sure way to know is to get a heart rate monitor that tells you your calorific burn. Don't rely on treadmills and other gym equipment to tell you how much you're burning. They're not very accurate Netty

Great quotes - I think I'll steal them for my blog!

Just added a few of yoos who's names have appeared since I was last on this thread! :) I've changed my username recently (based on the speed I jog at!) Just search for Captain Slow aka Netty and you should find me on Endomondo! :)

It's NOT an epic fail to continue - even at a snails pace and finish the distance and time! An epic fail is to give up the program altogether and go back to being a couch potato! You've done so well so far! Give yourself a pat on the back. Why not give this run another go in a few days time rather than moving on to the…

oooh yes - I agree 100% - it's much harder!

I got Asics gels at the weekend after visiting a small running shop in my area and getting advice from the staff there (after they made me run up and down the street to check out how I ran etc) I've only used them once so far - they seem pretty good to me though - and much more comfortable than my last pair of running…

I did C25k earlier this year. It starts off as more of a walking program with a little bit of jogging and gradually builds up the jogging and decreases the walking. Before doing this program I struggled to jog between 2 lamp posts in the street and I've never been a distance runner! I was always a sprinter at school. I…

yeah I have to agree with you on this one. I clean for a living - maybe I should log all that work? :) Netty

Your diary isn't public :(
-
Very well done - you must be feeling so proud of yourself :) And great to see you set down how you did it, in black and white (so to speak) for everyone to see. Loosing weight takes commitment and change but it CAN be done if you really set your mind to it and want to achieve your goal. I bet you need to go out and buy…

I bought my first treadmill from ebay - I just did a local search - within 25 of my postcode :)

Brave of you to open up your diary for public scrutiny! Well done! :) It must be very difficult when you know you have to rely on your mums choices of food for you. Maybe if you asked her to buy some more healthy options for you she'd be happy to do so. I'm not talking about asking her to buy a whole weeks food for you…

I love this reason! :)

Up until March of this year I was a couch potato - much preferring to sit in front of the tv and play my xbox rather than getting off my backside and "doing something" I needed a way to "earn" extra calories and walking just wasn't burning enough so I took up jogging. I love the challenge of getting my idle body moving and…

Well done on deciding to become a healthier you. Having to log everything you eat in a food diary will really help you. Make sure you weigh everything so you know EXACTLY how many calories you're taking on board. Try swapping your regular dinner plate for a (large) side plate and try to drink a glass of water just before…

Just bumping to get the post noticed again. I'm still looking for new friends on Endomondo. If you've got it and want to add me - Netty Flewers please feel free to send me a friend request :)

Many congratulations! You did really well. I jogged my Race for Life event here in Lincoln yesterday - and I did it in 34 minutes 44 seconds so you did amazingly well. Good on you! Netty
-
great link to those stretches - thank you. I did Race For Life yesterday - so I'm not going to be doing anything too strenuous today even though I'm not full of aches and pains - stretches will do me just fine! :) Good call!

it's a mad mad mad mad world we live in!

You might find a couch to 5 k program helpful - you can find them to download on itunes or they can be downloaded to your smartphone.

Happy birthday - and lets face it - with a mere 1lb to go - you're a winner! Well done!

it would probably be helpful to tell us what make and model of HRM you have :)

I'm in Lincoln UK - there are LOADS of us Brits on here :) Netty

I use endomondo - it's free and covers lots of different sports.

Sounds like me! I'm pretty sure that one "Netty sized portion" of food was enough to feed at least 2 people. I also used to dish up the same amount for myself as I was giving my husband and even when I was full I would still plod on until the plate was empty (I was brought up that you couldn't leave the table until you'd…

I wouldn't worry about the results if I were you - My husband and I are like chalk and cheese - and would probably fail any test like that. We're pretty much opposite on everything - from the food we like to eat to the tv programs we enjoy to the music we listen to - the list is endless - but we've been married for 30…
