  • 92 mg/dl Sunny & cold here this morning!
  • @ idocdlw, One of the reasons I quit logging in the first place is LCHF did all that was promised for me, weight was just falling off & I just didn't have the need to monitor my calories. I've been weight training for about 15 years now, and pet sitting/dog walking for 5. For a while I tracked macros, but after a bit, it…
  • Excellent response B) I'm going to have to remember that when getting together with my family again next!
  • oh boy...THIS =P I can totally sympathize!!
  • Ok, read and re-read your response. Sounds like you're saying I'm on the right track...maybe....adjust as needed in a week or so. Which sounds good to me, because neither MFP or any other app I use, gives me calories for the weight training I do. So that would go towards a weekly deficit. Annd, yes :) I am absolutely…
  • Thank you both for weighing in =) Some background, I have been keto for 4 years now (T2D) and I am a professional pet sitter. My daily activity is 5, 25 minute dog walks at an easy pace. I average about 2000 steps per appointment. Some dogs can move faster than others due to age, so my pace varies according to the dog. I…
  • blood sugar 101 ;) http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/ All you ever wanted to know and more.
  • 4 years in & 30#'s down since initially starting ;) Back to tracking to try to lose a vanity 10 I second recommendation to join the LC group!!
  • To answer the OP's question, myself, my husband and 19 yr old son all lost 30+ pounds on Keto. YMMV. I'm T2D, DH has it in the family too. Didn't know the boy had that much to lose & he didn't do it on purpose, just eating what mom cooked. You know how kids are, they love cooked food ;) We have all maintained the loss for…
  • In. Both my husband and I have been trying to get rid of visceral fat for too long now. We have both been keto for 4 years now, but while we both lost 30#, tummies still persist. I have the the meter mentioned, but haven't used it in a couple of years. I'm T2D, so there's no re-feed or cheat days for either of us. We've…
  • Good morning all :) Sun is shining here today for the first time in 3 or 4 days! Aiming for 10k steps today & aiming to make it a good one ;) 98 mg/dl
  • @MKknits, sure =D Here's a link to one of the boards I have set up there. So, confession time :# ..... I'm not tech savy and between my tablet, my cell phone & my laptop (which only now gets use because I'm reading the boards again and typing on a touch screen is just hellish) I saved some recipes to different boards and…
  • I know shark week is around the corner, because I begin looking to eat everything that isn't nailed down >:) I'm T2, and just this time of month makes my blood sugar spike despite eating less than 30g of carbs/day for the last 4 years, since diagnosis. I don't fight it. I eat when hungry, without limits, as long as it's…
  • Diabetic here too, I'm 4 years in =P Forget low sugar or sugar free. What your DH is going to need to watch are carbs as quazy69 mentioned. Though I wish I could get away with the amounts mentioned :'( I can only do up to 30ish grams/day but it's likely because we have different target numbers and other variables.…
  • Thanks ;) Somewhere along the line, I forgot that if I quit eating earlier in the evening & stick with veggies & meat I can get these kinds of numbers. Though it's true enough that sometimes, no matter what I do, I see upwards of 100 >:)
  • Of course ;) http://nobunplease.com/zesty-cheddar-biscuits/ I've used this to make hot dog poppers, jalepeno poppers, & hot pockets as described above. I make it as written, but decrease butter 2 Tablespoons. The dough can be formed by hand around dry-ish ingredients, think empanadas or savory hand pies. With wet hands, I…
  • I agree that the texture of cloud bread was off-putting to me. However, in my experience, this is generally the case with most LC reincarnations of foods we have become accustomed to not doing without. I discovered this Thanksgiving, that at this stage of the game, carby foods were disappointing to me. Except potatoes :(…
  • 4 years into eating low carb in this way & I'd say 3.3 grams of carbs per serving is pretty darn good for any keto recipe ;) Having made both of these recipes in the past, I preferred the eades bread to the cloud bread. Too eggy for me.
  • I know, right?! ;) We felt the same way. I make it once every 2 or 3 weeks because we're hogs & gobble it up at a ridiculous rate. My kids do too, they care not that it's low carb, all they see is mom made goodies! Enjoy!
  • I thought dry skin just came with the territory, so I make an effort to do the best I can to not be dry ;) Though I've learned my lesson about buying anything labeled for diabetics, I really like Gold Bond's diabetic formula.
  • This recipe is even more awesome & ready quicker! I used the crust from this recipe for the almond & hazelnut variations. When I make this one, I also use scant amount of swerve & SF raspberry jam. Personally, I find the recipe a little sweet, but I would encourage you to make it as written first, then alter accordingly if…
  • Hello everyone :) this isn't a product per se, but a 3 ingredient recipe for fudge/ganache and the like. When I'm feeling for sweet, this is what I make. I use slightly less swerve than the recipe calls for & have made 'bar' type cookies using this recipe with raspberry baking emulsion in the chocolate & almond flour…
  • Hello everyone :) New/restarting 100 mg/dl today
  • mmmm....wine...cake....kfc
  • I agree with both of these posters ;) bloodsugar101.com is a great place to start doing research. http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/18217337.php What is normal blood sugar? http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/16422495.php In order to have fasting BG btw 79 mg/dl and 90 mg/dl, I eat less than 20g of carbs per day. I'm on a…

  • Exactly. There is no 'catch' unless you eat it like it's going out of style, and even then, it's debatable what exactly will happen. Meh. To spread your risk, and thereby minimize risk, eat in moderation, all of the above listed proteins and re-frame what the 'catch' is.
  • I use a ladle that has 1/2 cup, 3/4 cup and 1 cup increments. I usually pour out what I make into a large 8 cup measuring cup with a lid (so I can wash the pot). Then ladle out the rest into another container, counting how many cups one pot made. We all have different schedules, so food that I cook, usually gets put right…
