I think it happens for a few reasons. First, I think many non ed people see eating disorders as a quick diet to lose weight so they get involved in the pro eating disorder internet communities looking for tips, promoting behaviors, but the majority of them stop or fall out when they realize it isn't easy and isn't as…

For me if I don't eat enough during the day I'm more likely to night eat. So I would check if you are actually getting enough during the day.Sometimes when I night eat it's emotional, and if I ask myself what I'm feeling and why I'm hungry it is easier to avoid eating. I also read that melatonin helps with night eating.

Welcome! I can't tell you why you eat but for me it usually do to wanting to stuff down unwanted emotions so I don't have to feel them. Anxiety is a big trigger for my eating and depression plays a role too.

The songs on my gym playlist are all up tempo and get me moving. These are my favorites: AFI- A Single Second, The Last Kiss Less Than Jake- Dopeman, Happyman, Al's War, Johnny Quest Thinks We're Sellouts Goldfinger- 99 Red Balloons, Here In Your Bedroom, Flogging Molly-Black Friday Rule, What's Left Of The Flag…

I've been underweight before and didn't have a thigh gap. Not everyone develops one.

Staring at my breasts to me means you are more interested in my body then me, that you are objectifying me. I guess the male equivalent would be how would you like someone staring at your groin instead of making eye contact with you while talking to you. I don't think leering at anyone's body male or female is appropriate.

I have had an ED most of my life. When I was in recovery the past two years, I was also on a drug, zyprexa, that messed up my metabolism. I didn't weight myself until around Jan and freaked out that I was up 100lbs. Now I am struggling with myself and my ED mind set to lose weight as healthily as possible. There are a few…

I've never been on haldol. I hope you it is weight neutral for you. I've had great luck with saphris.

I am sorry you have struggle so much, eating disorder can do so much havoc on our minds and bodies. Congratulations on not purging in over a year, that is am amazing feat! I too like you have struggled since I was young never quite finding peace with myself. I have found that tracking on here can both be helpful and a…

Zyprexa, depakote, and abilify took me from 130 to 275 so I feel your pain. I'm down thirty, so weight loss is possible even after meds mess up your metaboilsim.

Admitting something is wrong is sometimes the hardest step to make. The first time I tried to get better, I tried to do it on my own, and just intensified and changed my symptoms for mainly restricting to purging everything. I would high suggest working with a therapist and dietician on the issue as a dietician can only…

I would wait to weigh. I usually retain water and weigh more during premenstrual- menstruation periods.

I've never experienced it but they used that where I went to for residential treatment and know it really helped the girls who did it in my lodge. I hope that you find it helpful.

I can really relate. I've gained so much on drugs. 40 depakote, 20 Abilify, some on Lexapro, and then 100 on zyprexa. Granted I had an eating disorder when all of the medication started and I need to gain first 40+ but the rest has sent me over the edge and back into ED land and has disrupted my moods. I've lost 33lbs…

I think it is 2 weeks to start seeing an effect, and 4 weeks to be fully effective.

Thanks to you both for your input. I am up five and it seems to be holding for now. I don't know if I will make it if it takes 3 months to start going back down. I do eat pretty healthy mostly lean meats, fruits, and vegetables. It is kind of a double edge sword for me as I need to lose weight to be healthy and need to eat…

If anything they are worried about your strictness in only eating what you've planed, and in going to the lengths to bring your scale out. It isn't an eating disorder unless it interferes with your daily life which it doesn't sound like it is. Questions to ask would be, do you ever turn down going out with friends or…

Plateaus are just when your metabolism has to rewrite itself so it goes faster it takes quite a bit of time for the metabolism to catch up too all the changes we make. Give it a week or two and you should see a loss again.
-
How long have you plateaued for? If its only been a couple weeks it can take a bit longer than that for metabolism to rewrite it to a faster rate and you begin losing again. It will start up again, hang in there.

For me I've found it impossible on certains meds (zyprexa) to lose any weight no matter how I worked at it. Now that I've switched meds, even though I'm on a few known weight gainers (seroquel, lithium, saphris) I've lost 38lbs since January. So I would suggest you keep track of your efforts and after a month or two you…

But it takes that long each time you up the dosage too.

Psych meds generally take 2-4 weeks to have an effect.

I hate myself in both mirror and pictures. I see myself varying degrees of incredibly large depending on my mood, and the number on the scale. I never can see a change even when I've lost a significant amount of weight. It is definitely possible for eyes to play tricks on us.

I'm bipolar and for me my mood swings are sever but they last for quite a while weeks or more. I would see if you aren't already a psychiatrist, as they are the best able to diagnose psychiatry disorders and have the greatest knowledge on how to treat psychiatric disorders, much more than GPs. Usually to be diagnosed as…

Charlie, I am sorry your psyche is denying your eating disorder, I can relate some what as As I've been fighting with my current bout of eating disorder (EDNOS) my dietician told me I'm doing a wonderful job of being healthy and doing things in moderation when I told her I was on a starvation diet, and was having…

Hi everyone, I'm 29 and have been diagnosed with Bipolar I (at 23yrs), GAD (at 22yrs), PTSD (at 23 yrs), dermatillomania (undiagnosed), various Eating Disorders (since I was 12 diagnosed 22), with OCD tendencies. Things are pretty much un-managed now because I tried to work full time and it nearly killed me. I feel like…

I think it is common. I know that recovery is a scary place where you are making lots of changes and although we no longer use restriction to deal with our emotions we may fall into binging to deal with our emotions. I think the best thing for me was to understand why I felt I needed to eat before I let myself eat. It was…

Melatonin has worked for me in the past, when I haven''t been on a prescription sleep aid. Good sleep is so important for it regulates my moods and how I feel physically. Good luck finding something to help you sleep.
-
Eating that little will cause to crave food and even leads to binging. I would at increase your intake to at least your BMR.

I do have a psychiatrist and therapist that I talk about these issues with. It just seems like we area always putting the flames out one fire quickly and then moving on to the next issue that arises without completely dealing with the previous issue. I will have to bring more focus to the ED behaviors next time. Thank you…
