@collectingblues So if I am understanding you correctly, the resting energy is slightly higher than your true RMR because it is assuming some sedentary activity, not simply catatonia. The active energy count kicks in when you are doing something that is 3 METS or higher than the resting energy. Regardless, I should be…

I'd just like to know if the stair counts increase your calorie burn. Any idea who to ask? I can't find anything on the fitbit website.

I estimate my calorie deficit to be about 300 at 1100 calories a day--I have been losing about a pound every 12 to 14 days for 2 months--but I am more interested in decreasing my fat percentage than losing weight (my goal is to see my abs). Looking at my last weeks stats I burned about 250 to 300 calories a day, so I…

No one seems to have an opinion, so I think I'll just eat TDEE and focus on iron rich foods.

I broke the dreaded "never go below 1200" calories rule a month ago and magically started loosing half a pound a week after months and several different attempts at loosing weight on 1200 calories. I have a friend with dwarfism who is not supposed to eat more than 900 calories a day to maintain her weight, which made me…

I like that site! It actually didn't give me all that different a result: TDEE 1436 and 1146 cal/day for .6lb/week weight loss (the TDEE is 55 less than MFP and the calorie restriction is pretty much right on). I was pleased to see that I could put in my goal weight at see what my TDEE would be then: 1398! I am looking…

Wow! Thanks for all the responses! I really thought it was bad to weigh yourself everyday, but I'm going to start recording my weight daily. I know it is going to fluctuate, so I wont get depressed when it goes up a bit.

Right now I am just playing the 10 Minute Solutions Ultimate Bootcamp series. I'd like to move on to P90X, but not until I have mastered 10 Minute Solutions. 10 Min is still challenging, so P90X would destroy me!

Do you defrost them?

Thank you everyone! This was very helpful information.

Is there a bountiful baskets program in your area? $15 gets you a laundry basket full of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Thanks for everyone's help, I can't quite narrow it down to a specific food yet, but I am going to try.

That's nothing in the long haul. And remember that loosing weight and exercise is a long haul because it takes a long time to loose weight AND you are going to eat healthy and exercising for the REST OF YOUR LIFE! So chill. :)

I just worry about added sugar, like the corn syrup, or anything in candy, cookies, or sodas. That is supposed to be less than 25g or 6 tbls a day for women, according to the AHA. http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/GettingHealthy/NutritionCenter/HealthyDietGoals/Sugars-and-Carbohydrates_UCM_303296_Article.jsp

I occasionally get crap for working out and counting calories/nutrient, because people think I am too thin to do these things. It is mostly for counting calories "obsessively" as people say. I have learned through lots of cycles of gain and loss that if I want to maintain I have to count calories. In my case it is not a…

Thanks to everyone for their responses. Understanding that the sugar limits are for added sugar is a real help, and once I get through my stash of frozen vegetables I think I am going to buy a steaming tray and cook more fresh veg. My problem now is the sodium. It really is in everything!

Yes, you are correct. I reread the paper I got when I left the office and it specifically said added sugar. That actually helps a lot! There is no way to really keep track of added sugar in MFP, but at least I can be more aware of it when I purchase groceries.

Thanks everyone! Unfortunately for me, I am short, so even if I change my activity level to light activity it does not change my calorie intake at all. Sedentary @ 1lb per week = 1200 cal Light activity @ 1lb per week = 1200 cals or, Light activity @1/2lb per week = 1390

Do you think that someone who is not at risk for type II diabetes should try to cycle it, or should I just stop taking it when I reach my weight goal?
-
Thanks everyone. I have been cutting back on the wine, eating a lot at night, and still making my slow and steady weight loss goal. Thanks!

Thanks everyone!
