A good goal is expecting somewhere between 1-2 pounds lost a week. Given there's usually 4 weeks in a month, if you ended up hitting 2 pounds a week you could lose 48 pounds in 6 months. It would be more realistic to expect a pound a week meaning 24 pounds in 6 months. Just keep in mind that eating too little (usually…

I don't wash it after a sweaty workout. I have wavy to curly hair (depends on if I'm having a good hair day or not how tight the curls are!), I usually rub my hands through it to try to spread/shake some of the moisture out and then I had in mousse/gel like I would if it were wet and throw it up for the rest of the night…

I'd rather exercise outside than be in a gym too! But strength training requires a gym, and when it's -20 here, I don't have much choice but to run on a treadmill (as boring as it is)... hoping it "warms up" soon!

I think people usually use "calisthenics".

Oh, I like this!! That sounds like a great idea!

I'll have to check that out! But I suppose? I'm kind of looking for a way to advantageously use the hallway for my benefit!!

My fiancé's mom is really overweight (I feel obese would be too extreme of a term for her size, but she's quite big), and she always comes back from the doctor and says "I'm healthy! They always tell me I'm healthy even though I'm overweight." The only problem she really has is that she has chronic knee pain. However, I…

Remember that going over by 600 calories is actually only going over maintenance by 100 (if you're set to lose a pound a week you are at a deficit of 500 calories a day), so you didn't really gain or lose anything, you just stayed mostly consistent! So today's a new day to get back to your weight loss!

THIS. Running has increased my overall fitness, toned my legs incredibly and has totally been blasting my fat. I think it depends on each person personally but it has worked miracles for me and it's way more enjoyable than slogging away on a machine for ages to get the same calorie burn!

Search the forums - there are TONS of posts about this already. You'll probably want to start strength training. What you're going to find is that everyone who's credible is going to tell you for some belly fat is the last to go, so you just have to keep at your calorie deficit and keep working out and dropping pounds and…

You might like Couch to 5K. It's a program of walking/running that starts very easy and keeps building and it tells you exactly what to do. There's plenty of them out there and I believe there's probably apps as well.

That's AWESOME! Good for you!

I'm one inch taller, 5'5, but my goal right now is 148 and a body fat % of 25!

Most likely, you're not doing anything wrong! If you exercised vigorously 6 days last week and have exercised in a while, it might be water weight from swollen muscles.

Exercising is always a big anxiety reliever for me. If I'm sitting around feeling anxious, wanting to curl into a ball, can't focus etc, going for a long run or hitting the elliptical or the bike HARD always leaves me feeling SO much better in the long run. Making sure you're sleeping the right amount has also always…

Actually the 18 is what I have left!! 32 lost so far actually :) Thanks so much! I just beat up on myself a lot :ohwell:

There's an awesome website called BodBot where they give you workouts based on what you have available to you - home vs gym.

Sweet potatoes are heaven! A medium sized one is about 110 calories. Poke holes into them with a fork and then bake them for an hour at 400. I also love dice onions and sautee them in a tablespoon of butter (worth the flavor!!) until they get really soft and start to brown, and then throw in a ton of spinach and keep that…

You feel the treadmill more in your thighs because it is a more strenuous exercise. I have always burned WAY more running on the treadmill than the elliptical, but if you're walking on the treadmill, then you would definitely burn less than the elliptical.

BUMP - anyone??

Oh really? I had sedentary over the summer because I had a mile walk to work and other than I was just sitting, so I logged the mile and accounted for those calories but now I'm feeling a little low so I decided to bump it up to lightly. Just wanted to get some other feedback! thanks!

I definitely will! We used to cycle through the weight room machines twice a week for swimming, so I'm by no means opposed to it, I just don't have too much knowledge of it! Are those book titles that you've listed there?
-
Thank you so much for your kind words (: I too have heard that!

Really think it's all mental???
-
I don't, actually! I was off of school all summer so I just outside as I didn't have gym access. Though now I do, so would that help with the belly problem?

I think that sounds fine! I do the method of MFP where I eat back my calories from exercise, and right now I'm one 167-9ish, eating 1420 and then you add in 400-500 calories of exercise a day 5-6 days a week and bam, 1820-1920. Sounds fine! (:
