  • I don't rely on a scale to gauge success or failure. I depend on how I feel and how my clothes are fitting. When I go to the doctor and they insist I get on the scale, I look the other way and request they don't tell me what it says. For many years, I let the number on that scale determine how I felt about myself, but…
  • I have had memberships at several different gyms over the years. Currently I work out at PF because it is close to where I work. I use the treadmill, elliptical, bike, do the 30-minute workout, use many of the weight machines. I have never noticed anything missing that I would need. They have a nice area for stretching,…
  • I no longer own a scale. And when I'm at the doctor's office and they insist on weighing, I ask them not to tell me. I gauge my progress by how my clothes fit and how I feel. If I'm full of energy and my clothes are getting looser, then I'm doing it right. If I feel sluggish and bloated, then I can look back at the food…
  • Once you are out from under the daily pressure of a bad marriage, you may find it easier to lose the weight. As others have said, get counseling for yourself. • Springfield, IL..... The Horseshoe was invented here. Place 2 slices of texas toast on a plate. Add meat (hamburger is my favorite), cover with fries, and smother the whole thing in white cheese sauce. Yum! Other popular varieties are ham, chicken, turkey or buffalo chicken. A Ponyshoe is a small Horseshoe.

  • It's a mind battle for me. I sit all day at work, sit in the car on the way home, sit in the recliner to check email and watch TV. A body at rest tends to stay at rest... Once I get moving, I don't mind it so much.
  • Plan ahead, pre-log your food, find time for some exercise, share an entree with a friend at the restaurant. And if you fall off the wagon, climb back on and forge ahead.

  • I am 5' 10" and currently at 269 pounds (down from 282). I am aiming toward 175 pounds, and then will re-evaluate. When I was younger, I was comfortable at 145 pounds, and was a size 10. I don't know if that would be too thin at age 55 or not.
  • I broke through the 270 mark and am now in the 260's!
  • My doctor recommended keeping them in the freezer, and taking them frozen. I have found this avoids the fishy taste and burps.
