you are welcome - Good luck with the surgery

Lets start with How much do you weigh? How tall are you? I'm assuming that you want to loose weight.

I just had abdoninal surgery on Nov 13 -It was planned in advance- I lifted up to the day of the surgery & increased the intensity a bit because I figured I was just going to be laying around for a while. Go into it in the best condition you can, a little extra body fat can be OK if you are lean. I have started on the pink…

Both the the trainer who is muscled - in shape - and the trainer who looks like he does not train may have a lot of classroom , book , or internet knowlege or a certifacation or a degree. I feel that the trainer who has actully trained and had some success will be a better choice, as he / she also has experiance. That is…

There is a difference between knowledge & experience or wisdom - you can get knowledge in a class room , or the internet. Experience & wisdom come with doing it over time. I stand by my previous post - find a trainer who has time (years in the weight room) "knuckle-headed who 'look the part'" might actually know what he is…

Good Advice - find a trainer who at least looks like he/she knows what they are doing . Anyone can take some classes and repeat what they have learned. Find someone who has done it, someone with experience in the weight room

Chucks are a great choice - There are Olynpic squat shoes with an elevated heel if that works better for you. As the others have said those Nike's are too soft & squishy, avoid running or athletic shoes. I squat barefoot - but that's at home.

I agree with you Stephie - more protien - Kayla asked the same question in another thread tihis was my answer - -- A higher protien intake along with a regular weight lifting program will help you retain more muscle mass while you are loosing weight. Wait untill your surgery heals - I am in the same position - just had…

This is exactly what I needed and was looking, thank you so much! I hope you’re recovering well! My last abdominal surgery I didn’t take it easy and ended up with a hernia 😂 this time around I’m not taking any chances [/quote] You are welcome -I'm glad I could help. The idea is you want to loose fat & keep the muscle - not…

A higher protien intake along with a regular weight lifting program will help you retain more muscle mass while you are loosing weight. Wait untill your surgery heals - I am in the same position - just had adominal surgery 2 weeks ago. just do what you can for now. I would put your protien higher, maybe 160 gms, that will…

I was in the Army many years ago. at 5'8 195lbs you need to drop weight. To get in shape, work on walking, running, hiking with a ruck with some weight, you could use a weight vest. Body weight calisthenics are good, push ups, burpees etc, playing a sport, weight lifting, but don't worry about absolute strength as in power…

I used to work long night shifts at the hospital. That job involved lots of activity/ walking, and not quite enough sleep. I would lift weights on my off days. In your case , maybe you could get in some walking or easy activity/ light exercise on your work days. You have 3 days off, maye lift wieghts on 2 of those days, a…

Nice job on the weight loss What machines? What excercises are you doing? 3 sets, 10 - 12 reps of what? What exercises? what weights are you using? You have told us nothing about your exercise program. Be honest with yourself for a minute. Do you have the knowledge and experience to design a good exercise program? Your…

Black cooffee for me - I like Columbian - There are several goo ones- During the day I like iced coffee also black. Back in the day I used to splash some Jim Beam in there , but no more of that

I'm doing that right now for a surgery next week - I have in the freezer now - Homemade turkey soup, red beans & sausage, hamburger patties, large bags of frozen veggies, frozen blueberries & mango, & some comercial frozen, microwaveable meals. In the past I've cooked a turkey and froze meal size portions.

At 5.7 133 lbs you have lots of room to bulk. A 0.5 lb gain per week you should keep the fat gain at a minimum as long as you are following a solid weight training program. Eat enought protien - you will need some carbs. Google carb cycling it will help. When you feel you are gaining too much fat dial back the cals…

Are you lifting weights now? Look at Strong Curves for a weight training program, follow it, it will help with your glutes. Keep you protien intake up, and adjust your total calories as needed to maintain your weight
