  • Did I exercise for 20+ minutes? Yes, 30 mins running, 40 mins walking. Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yup, including 200 under for yesterday Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes!
  • Did I exercise for 20+ minutes? I'm going to leave that question Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? No. No no no. Let's try a new question. Did I find a new all you can eat buffet place at lunch that does curry, chinese, mexican and pizza? Yes. Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? No, how would…
  • Yeh, I had a terrible lunch time - went out with the wife to an all you can eat place. Difficult to be certain, but I'm pretty sure it was around 2,500 calories. Which takes me around 1,500 over for today. Soo.... I'm off the the gym. Let's see what happens there...!
  • Yup yup and yup

  • My weekly averages are generally 1700-2000. My splurge days are rarely due to a 1400 day the day before - its just a failure of self control not starvation. I'm actually aiming for around 1500 a day - I have the target set lower as psychologically I tend to find it easier having a soft limit that I can go a few 100 over…
  • Probably not quite true, I do sweat a bit, and I know I've been for a ride aftwerwards, but I'm doing up to 30 a day, and then not needing to sleep more, or feeling tired in the evenings or anything, so I know I can't be burning gallons...
  • Interesting. I'm generally averaging around 1700-2000 a day net - excluding the 5 day fast I did - this week for example, I've had 2200 every day, before exercise is taken into account. It seems like the general consensus is that my cycling should definitely be counting for more calories than I'm allowing. I would be…
  • Also, I've had a look at your exercise, and you are including a lot of everyday stuff that is likely included in your BMR calculation anyway: cooking 30 calories, walking up stairs 180 calories, etc. Are these actual periods of exercise, or just the normality of your day?
  • Yup, fruit counts. Salad is less of a problem since most salad stuff: lettuce, celery, etc is pretty low in calories. Obviously if you are adding meat, or dressing then that's different. Calories matter, doesn't matter what they are. Eat less than you use, you lose weight.
