i was in pt for my knees and i did squats and lunges (of course, not on day one). focus on proper form. a lot of knee issues originate from above (butt, hips).

yup, agree. knees are complicated. i recommend finding a good sports therapist. this is usually a combo chiro/pt practice.

barefoot sneakers (was new balance, now merrell) or chucks

they are a must for me. great for digestion, immune system, and more. (they are better than a multi-vitamin.)

knee noise can be many things. that escaping gas thing likely isn't it. (pretty much all of my joints go out of range, make noise, or both. both of my knees have different problems and make noises for different reasons. unfortunately, i have tons of experience here.) the general statement of noise without pain doesn't need…

ok this is going to sound TOO SIMPLE. what is your fitbit average calories burned? (this comes in the weekly report too). take that number. write it down. in mfp, change the activity level until the estimated daily burn is about the same. forget about what the actual activity level is called. (and it will NOT be sedentary…

i'm not one for substitutions... BUT... as a morning breakfast sandwich eggs (or egg whites) cooked flat then cut, wheat/grain sandwich thin, laughing cow blue cheese flavor, and red hot. it totally gets the wing craving!! and good protein/fiber to start the day!

eat and log, not worrying too much about what it is. i tend to lose my appetite, so getting any calories to get energy is good. when my appetite changes i know i am starting to get on the mend. also, trying extra hard not to get dehydrated (happens more when sick) so the eating is hunger and not thirst.

a woman (older) said something not kind to another (younger) on public transport the other day. i couldn't stop myself - i jumped in and asked if she thought she was her mother and why she felt the need to give unwanted advice. she didn't answer even though she was now standing directly between the two of us (in a mostly…

some folks (no matter size) just want to be negative, boss others around, say something not nice, etc. it is something in their own life that makes them unhappy - not anything you are doing! good job learning that food is not a reward. tried to explain this concept to some other folks and got shunned! LOL

i'm an inch taller, older, and weigh less... and i eat more and still lose. you are NOT eating too little. i would recommend a food scale and measuring so that you are accurately logging - but this is good for everyone. the math works, but isn't always linear. don't be impatient. ;)
-
make sure you weigh it. i eat almond butter almost every day!!
-
you will find a whole bunch of folks here who eat what others would consider "high fat" - myself included. say it with me... fat doesn't make you fat, more calories in than out does.
-
writing this separately so some folks read - THERE IS A BUILD UP PERIOD/PROCESS - YOU CANNOT JUMP INTO A FULL DOSE.

first, you shouldn't take supplements without talking to your dr. second, if you did, you would know that this was a bad flushing reaction and that the response to a reaction is to take baby aspirin. if you really need to be on it , PER YOUR DOCTOR, he might put you on the prescription version. it is extended release and…

my pants test is able to pull up AND down with out unbuttoning/zippering. sleeveless shirts you can tell by the armpit gap. it really depends on where you are wearing things. don't be unpresentable at work, etc. def make use of thrift stores. don't over buy in any size.
-
you people complicate things too much!!!! ahhhhhhhh!!
-
drink more water. move more (walking is fine). <<<mostly, it is that simple. try a probiotic. i'm on one long term for a few reasons, including digestion. it is actually better for your immune system than a multivitamin. if you are bleeding, please see a doctor. supplements like miralax or laxatives should not be used…

i have no trouble logging. have logged every single day since i created an account here. i don't need someone to pat me on the back for logging. i also don't need help/encouragement/hand holding, nor am i hiding anything. it just isn't anyone else's business. eta - not everyone needs the same kind of support/feedback. just…

you will know when you become best friends with the bathroom. i eat a lot of cabbage. it is hard to eat too much raw or cooked cabbage. sauerkraut on the other hand... that limit i hit MUCH sooner... but i still eat it!! lol

my pecs (chronically tight), neck, and back were much happier. it is much easier to find shirts that fit. bras are still hard to find, since i'm still packing, but now at a smaller band size. on the topic of bras... if you were big to start with, then were huge, now are deflated - a padded bra really isn't a good idea.…

wasn't for picnics - that wouldn't really be an "everyday" thing to mention... *shakes head*

omg. i think this is the very first time i can whole heartedly agree with your response. had to comment!!!

oh boy... well, if you are one of those people that believe extremes work... i'm not. any extreme is asking to fail, it is just a matter of time. i didn't grow up with much "junk food"/snacks/soda/etc growing up. this had little, if nothing, to do with health - we were POOR. (we did drink a lot of kool-aid - that is super…

can i join in? will be there in the next 4-6 months. was lifting in august, just had some surgery, will get back into it when my body allows. now that i've gotten past 100+ lbs lost i'm slowly upping my calories (averaged 1700-1800 pretty much the entire time, never was low). slightly on hold the next couple of weeks, as…

for hummus, eat this with veggies instead of things like pita chips. the veggies are way less calories than pita chips, so you can eat lots more hummus!
-
weigh portions, individual sizes, or work them into your day. i ate a whole avocado with dinner. i eat a lot of good fat, but weigh everything that isn't an individual size. side note - today at the cardiologist he told me that i could eat more than 35% fat if i wanted to. not news to me, but great to hear from a doctor!!
-
dont know what i would do without my flex. love the data!!
-
put it in the charger and use a paperclip to reset. let charge to a full charge. if it doesn't work/happens again soon, contact fitbit for a replacement. it is extremely unreasonable to expect a device that gets this much use/wear to work without hiccups.

i'm totally sporting thinner straps!! just as of last week - it is very exciting!!
