Word. This drives me nuts when people explain a few pounds of rapid scale weight change as gained muscle. It doesn't work like that. Muscle builds sloooooooowly. edit: High performance atheletes can't build muscle on a deficit either. o_O

Which weighs more, a cup of gold or a cup of feathers?

PR of 225x3 last week.

People often think they will either need to do nearly nothing and they'll suddenly look like Arnold in his prime, or that they'll need to become cultish'ly devoted to fitness to make any sort of improvement.

Eat a little more every day this week than you did last week. Repeat. I used to think about 2500 was a lot of food. Now it's just average. I recently increased from 2900 to 3200 now THAT feels like a lot of food. My point is anything more than what you ate for the last few weeks feels like a lot of food.

Would you put them in a fruit salad? No? Then vegetable. Everything you wouldn't put in a fruit salad is a vegetable. Everything. Every. Thing.

Probably not even a detectable difference either way. Largely because you don't build the muscles in the gym, that's where they get broken down. You build them in the ensuing days as your body patches them up stronger than before. If you're lifting and maintaining a week to week surplus you're probably building muscle.…

Guy, he said 89 grams of chicken PROTEIN and listed the uncooked weight of the meat. That's almost a pound.

"Had to haul it up himself" Ummm look, this was probably a trivial weight for him. It would have made it more awkward to coordinate with you to shift it around. What would your reaction be if someone offered to 'help' you move a gallon of milk? Mild confusion and saying something along the lines of "I got this" right? I…

I would. I don't even really understand this question. LOL are you scared of ghosts or something? o_O

I can tell you what it definitely is not the way our distant ancestors ate. Our paleolithic ancestors didn't eat 'paleo' and most of the stuff they did eat doesn't even exist in that form anymore. It's an exercise in futility based on a lie. With that flimsy justification rejected it can more clearly be seen as what it is:…

I stopped reading when I got to Minnesota Starvation Experiment. That study has been used to promote more poorly supported ideas to more people...It's basically a red flag for Woo at this point.

Well regardless of whatever was going on before, depending on how active you are losing weight on that much food might be expected for a man of your size and age. Standard estimates would place you at about 2400 calories a day to maintain your weight if you get 3-5 hours of moderate exercise a week. This could be you…

It sounds like you almost fainted. Ummm yeh you might want to see a doctor about that.

6' I don't have exact numbers for the old weights Lowest was about 170 in my teens and early twenties. Highest was a little over 200 a couple years ago. Currently 183 Goal 200'ish but strong and lean instead of weak and flabby.

This is in part an example of Catastrophic Thinking. One way to deal with this to some extent is to examine the consequences. Ask yourself "And then what?" So you gain a pound or two, and then what happens?

People will have all kinds of answers for this based on personal preferences and philosophy. But there's considerable evidence that a big chunk of of facial attractiveness comes down to two factors: Symmetrical features and features that are literally close to the mean in size and shape. The most comprehensible practical…

A-Are you asking if it's normal that your stomach is bigger after you put things inside? Ummm Yes. Yes it is. This is pretty noticeable on anyone who isn't obese.

Well saying that it IS an eating disorder might be putting it a bit strong. But let me put it this way, I know a person with ED, and attempting to 'fix' binges like this does not go well for her. You don't really want to get into a binge/restrict pattern. You over ate for a day or two. It's not a big deal, sometimes we eat…

You had me at the point where he cheated on you. That's a totally valid reason to split, never mind the other stuff. From your description it doesn't sound like he's interested in making the changes necessary to have a healthy relationship. You gotta do what you think has the best chance of making you happy, but if the…

(I saw an American eat Balut for the first time once. He said it was one of the best things he'd ever had in his life and that the concept made him feel like a terrible person at the same time.)
