  • Yoghurt dressings made with low/non fat yoghurt have very few calories. Just mix yoghurt, salt, pepper, herbs you like... Done. Also low fat mayonnaise can be used in dressings. When I use a lot of (ripe!) tomatoes, I just cut them into small pieces and use their juice and some balsamic vinegar or lemon juice together with…
  • I make sure that I eat lots of fruit/veg instead of other little snacks like icecream. Also ordering a salad instead or with the normal food can help reducing the calories. And of course water instead of (most of the) wine... And try to walk quite a bit. Then you should be absolutely fine :)
  • First, I think running a 10K is great, and well done for training for it. The shoes are certainly the most important, also a very good sports bra helps a lot. And of course training :) About the 'under one hour' goal. If you run 5 miles (8km) in 1.5 hours, that's 11.25 minutes per kilometer. That would be 1 hour and 53…
  • ABSOLUTELY!!! If you need a very inspiring and motivating book, get "Running made easy" by Susie Whalley and Lisa Jackson. It tells you everything you need to know about running, as well as some success stories of some people (like one woman who started training at 300 pounds) But yes, you'll do it! Always believe in…
  • Hi :) It really depends on the intensity and length of your training. I'm training for a marathon and went to a fitness assessment last week. I had a lactate test done which measures the amount of lactate in your blood during exercise of increasing effort. I don't know how much you know about metabolism. But a key for…
  • Hi. I'm Sarah. I'm currently training for a marathon, which includes some strength training. I live in Ireland, so that could help with the 5am starts for you, because I would already be awake :D Feel free to add me as a friend
  • I'm training for the real marathon. But my goal is just to finish, it'll probably take be 5-6 hours though.
  • Last week I made this. It takes about 45 minutes, but I made loads and put some portions into the freezer... 300g brown rice 1 can green lentils 1 can chickpeas 200g onion, minced 300g carrots, chopped 150g bell peppers, chopped 150g tomatoes, cut into big chunks 2 Tbsp. olive oil Spices - boil rice for about 25 minutes in…
  • Cork, originally from Germany though... Does anybody do running in Cork? I'm training for the marathon in June :)
  • I'm the same. I try to kinda plan my calorie intake and feel like I want to get the best out of the calories I can have. I literally woke up last night thinking about food... I hope it's gonna get better when I do this longer, or maybe when I have more other stuff to do.
  • You can all add me as a friend as well. I am a college student in Ireland doing a BSc in Genetics. I started counting calories before, but only joined MFP today. I love college, cooking and running.
  • I'm doing Genetics, currently looking at where to do my PhD
  • Hey :) I started running last summer and I am now training for my first marathon in early June. I bought the book "The Non-Runners Marathon Trainer" and it's great. It has a training plan and lots of positive attitude. So far it has motivated me A LOT, but I'm in a bit of a motivational crisis at the moment, as college is…
  • Hi :) I have just started with MFP, but I've been counting calories for a while... I mean, every now and then, when the chocolate wasn't to tempting. I actually have a hypothyroiditis as well, so I'm on thyroid hormones. I don't think I gained weight from them, they even get me more motivated. If you'd like to become…
