  • this sounds wonderful and would be great in the fall. thanks for sharing!!
  • I'm a teacher who is off in the summer and so travels/stays away from home most of the summer. Because of this, I have to modify my normal gym routine. I bought some DVDs, weights, and a weighted bar (not sure if that's the actual name of this thing, but that's what I would call it) so that I could still exercise wherever…
  • I bought a Polar FT4 in January 2011. It was midrange in price and had good reviews on Amazon. I ended up LOVING it! The calories burned taught me that the MFP estimations weren't as accurate as I'd been thinking they were. Anyway, the chest strap battery didn't need to be replaced for about 6 months and just this month I…

  • @shoobz Your eyes and bangs make me think of Zooey Deschanel
  • I love the following blog! It has several salmon recipes I have tried and loved. Her other recipes are also tasty and healthy as well. http://www.thefitcook.net/1/category/fish/1.html
  • these are great! thanks for sharing!
  • you can remember Color Me Badd singing at the Peach Pit (original 90210) or you wanted one of Blossom's hats or if you played "MASH" (the game on notebook paper- not the tv show) or if you collected Garbage Pail Kids
  • I'm not positive, so please don't butcher my comments if I'm not perfectly clear....but from what I've always understood and read: I think eating breakfast jumpstarts you BMR. Your BMR is your Basal Metabolic Rate ( I may be incorrect on what it stands for, but I think this is correct). This is the amount of calories your…
  • I was curious so searched a bit myself. It seems there is some conflicting information on the subject and your best bet would be to do some of your own research and reach your own conclusions based on knowledgeable experts. I'm leaning toward the belief that as long as it isn't a large amount of caffeine, it can count…
  • You're going to love it! I also have the FT4. You'll be surprised to see the difference in accuracy between the machine and the HRM. FYI- take the Wearlink off the chest strap when you aren't using it to save the battery. It probably seems obvious, but I was just throwing it in my bag after rinsing it. The manual probably…
  • I add splenda and and sugar free hazelnut coffee creamer (liquid)
  • I'm going to try to stay away from it, but if i do eat any i will definately log it because I need to visually see the effects to keep myself in check :)
  • you look great! congrats on your loss!!
  • i used splenda (0 cals), sugar free hazelnut coffee creamer (low cals but can't remember the exact numer), and parkay spray butter (0 cals) in mine today and it was actually very good and most importantly, filling. the oats were also cooked in water to keep the cals lower
  • Good job! I'm on Day 15 today and have only lost 2 pounds, but lots of inches. I'm not really trying to lose weight though....just trying to get more fit and toned. I feel much more tight in places that I had previously been having trouble getting with my cardio and workouts at the gym.
  • I have a cheat "day" in which I'm over on my calories, but technically it is really only a cheat "meal." I pick one meal a week that I am going to just eat what I want without thinking about the consequences. Doing this almost always puts me over in calories within reason whereas a whole day of eating what I want puts me…
  • I started with 8lb (on Day 1) because I use 12 for bicep curls at the gym, but the 8's were actually too much. I dropped to 3lbs. (for Days 2-5). I'm on Day 6 today and plan on trying out 5lbs because now that I've got going, the 3's are not challenging me as much. When I start Level 2, I may have to drop back down, but…
  • I got up yesterday and today and did the 30DS which I had been doing after dinner at night. I got up at 5 and was in the shower around 5:50. I was only up long enough to drink a glass of water and change clothes (so maybe 15 minutes or so) then got started (I didn't eat before which is probably a no-no, but I had a protein…
  • Mine was around $70, however the range is $28 (walmart) up into the hundreds of dollars. The brand of mine is Polar and it had great reviews (I researched and read reviews for a week before making my decision). I have a co-wprker who has had her Polar for 6 years and it's still accurate. I've only had mine for 3 days, but…
  • you can go to your excercise diary and click "create excercise" and add it yourself if you know the amount of calories you burned. since many zumba classes are different paces/styles, and everyone is a different weight, it's difficult to go by what someone else burns. last week, i just searched the database and put high…
  • LOL. I love it! That's my goal. You create the ticker and I'll be your first user.
  • My friend has a Polar brand that she has been using for 6 years. Many of the reviews for Polars all mentioned that they had a good lifespan. She also reccomended the chest strap band (unsure of what it is called) in addition to the watch because it is more accurate apparently (she also claims that it is comfortable). I…
  • Good question. I've been wondering the same thing for several weeks. I've been using which ever gave me the lower amount as I didn't want to uknowingly go over my calories because of a higher than actual amount. However, this past week I've been really questioning my calories burned and wanting a more exact amount. After…
  • Look up the calories/fat and think about how long it would take on the treadmill to erase it. That's how I survived Valentine's Day as a teacher.
  • i'm always hungry after a workout, too. i usually go with something light/low cal. like cereal or a small salad with some chicken or something crunchy like fruit and rice cakes. tonight i had a protein smoothie that i found in my new ab diet cookbook and it was good because it had protein and a small amount of vanilla…
