On vacay right now =) Visiting the area my father grew up in as did my husband (small world). Getting to see some family on both sides and just enjoying the area. Going to a water park today. Planning a couple museum days, hiking tours and the like. One folk concert and one blues concert.Going to an air show/ fly in…

lol, shh on the sweets talk, I'm baking for my son's bday party and and having a hard enough time not eating everything.... Mmmm pie, now I'm going to have to bake a freaking pie ;-)

I agree with this, this is why I posted, this is what was ticking me off about the thread.

no, I'm simply pointing out that he was speaking in the same blanket way that he was saying he didn't like others doing. Those who eat clean do so because they feel (and studies have agreed) that the chemicals in processed foods are damaging. My corn allergy demonstrates to the extreme what having damaging things to you in…

Which is why I have a problem with the post. He was using blanket statements himself. I get what you are saying, and what others were saying, maybe that's what the op meant, but it's not what he said. What he said was no better then what you all are saying you have an issue with.
-
Now you're just being obtuse. It's as relevant as anyone that says they eat clean for their health. Deriding everyone for doing what works for them is doing just that, everyone. I am part of everyone. He said the concept is stupid, the concept is sound. My case may show it in the extreme- but it only serves to illustrate…

It may not be doing everyone grave harm but it obviously is doing some. I don't really talk about my diet to others outside of, "sorry I can't eat that, allergic" and leave it at that, not really something I want to get into a discussion about in public. But 50% lung function I think would classify as grave harm, lungs…

I don't give a rats *kitten* what people choose to eat either, it's the lumping everyone in together and getting down on everyone doing something because you don't like a few that do. Can't stand that.

Eating clean isn't a stupid concept. I am lung collapsing allergic to corn. Do you know how hard it is to find ANYTHING processed without corn in it in the country? Freaking lunch meat has corn in it. Ice cream has corn in it. Half the freaking preservatives out there are derived from a corn source. I'm glad you do what…

I was reading this article- http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/health/body/head-to-toe/fat-but-fit/ today on my tablet, and it made me think of this thread. The article is called, can you be fat but fit.

Personally I fall in with the ones saying they have no forbidden list. I've never dieted before to loose weight, just exercise, eat decent. This time after a prolonged period of medical condition enforced limited movement I'm thinking of dieting too to shed more weight faster, but doubt I'll have forbidden, just limiting…

Thank you both again, I truly do appreciate the help and your taking the time to reply and help.

Makes sense =)

So with some detecting it and some not, that probably means that it has more to do with differences in individual bodies and who ended up in the test group then in what was actually being tested, right? So basically as long as I try to be healthy about exercise and what I'm eating it it's not really an issue? I've been…

So as long as I'm getting a decent nutrient intake and not actually starving myself it should be fine? Thank you, going through the posts on here starvation backlash has came up a lot and I just couldn't find enough real info on it to figure it out.
-
Or if anyone could point me towards some trustworthy info about, that would equally be appreciated.
-
Yeah, I'm allergic to corn, lung collapsing allergic. It's not that much fun trying to find foods in the country that don't have corn of some sort in them. You'd be amazed how many of the crazy named ingredients at the end are derived from corn sources -.- It's extremely frustrating.
-
No wonder the country has such a weight problem, even our 'healthy' food is full of sugar.

For so long I thought I hated salad, turns out I just hate lettuce. When we did a kale salad one day when it was on sale I found out I can love salad... so long as it's not made with lettuce, lol.
-
If you mean empty calories then I guess anything that is a starch would fall in the category, and anything overly sugary. I don't know. I am still nursing a toddler so I don't really track my food or worry about it. If I start tracking too often I want to limit it and that would be bad for kiddo and me both nutrient wise.…

Not mental but my lungs are crud. Right now they are 75-90% function, last few years were 50% or below (finally found a med reg that is really helping). I cant relate exactly but I know how frustrating it is to not have the energy to move, albeit for a different reason. I would love to be friends with someone who sounds…

Im looking for some friends too. As long as you dont mind I'm not on weekends, holidays or when sick =p

No one?

Thank you!

I ordered a timex watch and chest band that is suppose to track calories and heart rates, so I'll just see if that seems an accurate enough way to track instead. I don't truly understand how the whole calorie burned tracking works enough to know, so any help would be appreciated.
-
I'm sure you'll start to see drops soon!
-
I agree! And thank you for nice, motivational reply. I use to experience the same thing. My main goal atm though is to loose weight for health reasons, so it is frustrating not to see the scale moving down. But I agree overall this is a good thing, or I wouldn't have mentioned that I had lost a size and understand it's…

What exactly are you doing in the motivation and support forum? *edit* nvm, found the ignore user option ;-)
