  • I rarely eat many of my exercise calories. I do eat snacks as it seems easier than getting everything into 3 meals. At the end of the day, if I'm still low - i check my nutrient ratios & see if I can find a snack to boost anything that's low (trail mix for added protein or fiber, fruit for more carbs, ....).

  • I put it under cardio for circuit training (i do it as circuit training - straight from one set to the next, next, next without breaks) and enter the time. If I work out with my hubby, i do jumping jacks while he does his set so i still keep the cardio up. Otherwise, you can add "strength training" as a cardio activity…
  • My latest goal, during maintenance is to do a perfect handstand...possibilities ARE endless :)
  • I weighed or measured everything for quite a while, got to the point that measuring cups were doubling for serving utensils at the dinner table for everyone :) I have gotten really good at estimating, but I am measuring everything with my DH as he embarks on his new years resolution. He is finding that if we measure out…
  • Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have read all sorts of threads concerning the sugar question & this is the first time I have seen it explained that the limit is for added sugar. That makes so much sense. Too bad mfp cant separate the 2 out, but really I'm sure I can!
  • I found as a Mom of a teenager returning to school at the end of summer, the gym I had joined at the beginning of summer was no longer practical. I really must workout in the morning, but I also must be home to get my kid out the door, & I must be to work on time. So the extra travel time to/from the gym just no longer fit…
  • I've been at my maintenance stage since about July, but just found this group. I am happy to join your discussions, especially since it seems this holiday season is trying to get the best of me :0
  • I've been at maintenance stage since about July, but it wasn't until Thanksgiving weekend out of town with family that I really went up in weight to a point that I was out of my preferred range. I have realized that now trying to drop back down, I have really gotten lazy about the good habits that had gotten me where I…
  • Sometimes reading these posts makes me hungry...
  • It really doesn't have to be as tedious as counting cashews for the rest of your life. For one, you get accustomed to about how 12 cashews feels in your hand, about how 28 goldfish crackers look in your soup, about how much 3 oz of chicken looks..... & ya go by feel after you reach your goals or on a "day off" or at a…
  • Well said, i dont think anyone was raining - just expressing their own opinions. Food tastes are varied among people. I did try it - other than the two bites I took when i opened it it is still sitting in my freezer. I didn't like it. I found that it did not satisfy my desire for ice cream & was not worth the calories. I…
  • I sue salsa in place of all sorts of other sauces/gravies/dressings it cuts a lot of fat & calories & really amps up the flavor. Plus, i have read that spicy foods increase metabolism - bonus!
  • Hockey is my family's thing too. We have a bit of a rivalry since my husband is from Columbus & a big Blue jacket fan while i being from near buffalo have always been a Sabres fan. We watch all the games, go to the games when we can, plan whole trips around good games in Columbus... So, of course there is beer &…
  • @ manda - I have the same problem, in fact I was literally just bemoaning this fact to my husband. I was doing better when i had seriously limited my carbs earlier in the year, but even then had to limit fruits (especially, if I was saving calories for icecream). Obviously, I have a sweet tooth ;) Really the only times I…
  • 100 calories per mile is a general rule of thumb for a person weighing 180 (65/mile if you weigh 120) See this calculator for an idea of your calories burned for walking per mile http://walking.about.com/library/cal/uccalc1.htm
  • Love your story! I swore off donuts & french fries almost 7 years ago (its a long boring story ahaving to do with a friends obsession with the glucemic index). But your current story sounds a lot like my family's experience with what started as a new years resolution fir my 12 year old & me. I became obsessive about…
  • Thanks for the new esercise. I did the 3/10 as suggested. My form was no where near perfect, but I'll keep working on it. I have decidedbmy next goal is to do a handstand, so I need the strength & flexibility in my shoulders that this exercise should help build.
  • Oops...apparently dont know how to quote someone, but my comment was referencing BeacIron's ribeye, wine & huge piece of chocolate pie
  • Thats fabulous. Now that I have been on maintenance of my goal for a while, I take days off from logging too. Next time, I will follow your menu since you rattled off 3 of my favorites :)
