Hey there as requested by emjaycazz here I am ! I am 63 and a granny of 5 I am small but I lift as heavy as I can. I have only been lifting since June but I have seen great results. Tell your Mum to just have a go and tell her she will be strengthening her body and warding off osteoporosis too. Good luck to her !

You should see the guys faces when I walk into the weights section. I just smile and carry on. So funny when I bench press 30 kg and they can't believe it. It's like look at that little old woman with grey hair ..... Haha

Why dont you try lifting some weights ? As heavy as you can manage around 3 or 4 times a week I think when you are small your muscles tone up quickly . Mine did !

UK Granny lifter been lifting as heavy as I can manage since June [ Please excuse the back flab ...its very resistant ] I am 63 yo , 5 feet 1 inch and 115 lbs [ 8 stone 3 lbs ] I do zumba 3 to 4 times a week and lift 3 times a week

Porridge with a dollop of greek yoghurt on top and fresh blueberries on top of that. Yummy . I like it so much I sometimes eat the same thing again after the gym .

Yes I agree ... lifting is anti-gravity for the body ! I wish there was something similar [ apart from surgery ] for the face ....

Hi I think my BF is between 26 and 29 % but I have never had it measured accurately only on the machine at the gym. My BF has dropped quite a lot since I lost about 12 lbs and started lifting weights

I do a variation of Stronglifts 5 x 5 and I lift for an average of 30 minutes 3 or 4 times a week with plenty of rests between lifts. I do 45 mins of Zumba 3 times a week too. I dont think you will get bulky unless you eat over your maintenance level and I don't do that and I lift weights that are heavy for me but would probably not be that heavy for a younger or larger person.

I did ...by accident ! At my 40th birthday celebrations a lot of people I hadn't seen for a while were very amused to see my 5 month pregnant belly !!

I have 4 children . First pregnancy at 20 and last at 40 . The most I gained was 30 lbs from a starting weight of around 110 lbs . I dont have any stretch marks but neither does my sister who was really heavy with both her pregnancies so I agree with the genetic link .

Thank you all for the great comments . I would reccommend weight lifting to all older ladies. It makes you stronger and its good for your bone density too. Its also good for reducing " bingo wings " [ thats a UK phrase for the flabby bits that hang down under the arms ] :0)

I don't understand why my TDEE is so low compared to others I am 5 feet 1.5 inches and petite frame age 62 116 lbs and calculated via scoobys With light exercise its 1575 and with moderate exercise its 1776 My cals have to be very low to lose weight I only want to lose another 4 lb and reduce my body fat a little

My goal weight is 112 lbs I am 5 feet 1.5 inches and petite. If I can get a little under 112 that would be good too !
