  • For me, running seems to tighten up my core area. Even though I don't see a lot of weight change, my stomach definitely seems tighter and firmer.
  • Lol! I 'grab the moment' on the way down and 'let's wait a while and see' when it goes the other way!! My reasoning is that my losses are usually +/-1/2lb so seem feasible, whereas sometimes I can be 'up' over a lb, which I know is not feasible (in one day, anyway!).
  • I've been using the website for a while, enjoy creating routes for my running! Used the app this weekend and liked it, loved the 5 min cues and for the distance / route I used, it was pretty accurate.
  • Interesting, I'm similar to you in that I'm 5'4" and 139lbs. I'm looking to lose the last 7lb and have also 'seen the light' and bought the book! I read a fascinating post on here about "major success with eating more calories" or something similar, that might help allay your fears re upping your calories. I recently…
  • It's not lying to myself, because I am aware of and responsible for my actions. It's not lying to my food diary, because, well, it's an inanimate object and it's never going to hold me accountable for not logging, or logging incorrectly. I don't log things if I've closed out my diary and I'm 2-300 under and I have…
  • This is me too! Well, tomorrow's another day and another round of them....face: meet floor. Arms: don't bother trying to lift me up!
  • You have no idea how supportive I'm finding this! Really did think I was the only one who was struggling! Embarrassing: I do this workout in our lounge with the windows open. Next door are having building work done...lucky builders. 3 days a week they get to hear me grunt and groan! And swear during the tri push ups!
  • The good thing about it is that it's divided into circuits and the DVD menu tells you which part of your body your working, so if you only had 30 min you could do 3-4 circuits plus the warm up and cool down. This way you can keep the DVD fresh by alternating which 3-4 circuits you choose to do! Banish fat, boost metabolism…
  • I just about to finish my first cycle, although I've only been doing the resistance circuits. (ie not the abs, cardio or stretchy DVDs). I'm thinking about leaving it a week or so and then starting again and trying to up my weights. I know when I started Burn, I was quite conservative with my weights until about week 3,…
  • I'm the same. I think because I haven't lost much fat on my arms it still shows. Also, I believe that compared to the bicep, the tricep is a small muscle, so maybe thats why it doesn't show as easily.
  • Last year I only did cardio- Zumba, jillian michaels DVDs and the like. My lowest MFP weight was 1lb lower than it is today, but IMO I look much better now I've incorporated some regular resistance through ChaLean extreme. However, nothing gives me a flat stomach like running does!
  • Just got back from mine, lovely sunny day, did suddenly feel HOT on the run. Did it in just over 57 min, so that, by definition of it being my first run, is my PB! But it's also my PB from my training runs too, so am doubly proud. Going to have a relaxing day in the sun, having a BBQ and just admiring my medal! Well done…
  • I actually can't remember, I may have decided upon a conservative time based upon what I know I burn in a moderate activity, or I may have logged it as per MFP and not eaten all of those calories back. I'd never done it before, if I'd realised I was going to feel that knackered, I'd've worn my HRM!
  • I once boned a shoulder of lamb. Took me well over an hour and my arms were still aching the next day, so yes, I logged that.
  • If you entered on line, your confirmation email from sports relief has your mile number on it. Other than that, I can't help you!
  • Go on their website and see if you can contact them. If you have your letter, take that along with you for tomorrow, or any email confirmation. Good luck everyone!
  • That sounds like a great time! I'm hoping to do the 6 mile around the one hour mark, not sure how the mini heat wave we're having will affect me, I've only been running since October, so this sunshine and warmth lark is all a bit new to me!
  • Bumping so I don't have to keep searching!
  • I think it can improve your overall mood and sense of humour. I believe some diets can make people tetchy, controlling and irrational
  • When it's going fine I'm happy just to do a head clear- empty my mind of all those niggling thoughts etc. when it's tough, I tell myself 'run to the next post', 'run to the bridge' etc.
  • No. I sweat buckets while I sleep and that's hardly a workout! My understanding is that we sweat to regulate body temperature and therefore how much we sweat is affected by external factors (someone's already mentioned working out in Florida for example). I also understand that there is a genetic influence and some people…
  • Bump for my run this weekend!
  • @RAFValentina, didn't offend, I am deeply in awe! @meerkat, I am doing what I would normally do, except that I swapped it round, I did my 6 mile today and will do a 3 mile on Tuesday. Will carry on with my ChaLean extreme mon, wed and fri. The only thing I will do differently is lay off the cider on Saturday I think!
  • Haha- I can't do it in less than an hour either! I did it in just over today, but that was a well worn route and I had to stop a little bit (you know, to give prioritiy to oncoming traffic and stuff!). I'm aiming for 65 to allow for 'the day' and I'll be pleased with that! Mines in Worcester, thanks for all the tips!
  • For one key only, I've taken the lanyard off one of my flash drives and use that. Have it round my neck and threaded through my bra strap to keep it still.
  • I always wonder if the converse side of this argument is "I don't log eating mars bars because I've always eaten one every day, it's just part of my daily activity / lifestyle". Still, other people's exercise and food choices have yet to affect my progress!
  • Where we are (UK), cucumbers we've grown seem to thrive in a humid heat offered by the greenhouse, especially in one of ours that has a lot of shade. Toms do grow well if moved outside, but may need introducing to the outside gradually (we start off by putting them outside during the day and moving them back in the g/house…
  • UK and <I have two allotments! Ok, so that's two pictures of the same one, but we do have two! Gonna be growing new pots, squash (several varieties), beetroot, 'snips, carrots, onions, garlic, shallots, kale, cabbages, calabrese, caulis, sweetcorn, asparagus, leeks, borlotti beans, runners, mange tout, tayberries, apples,…
  • If its meds that have 'helped' you gain weight, then many congratulations for losing 9lbs, it can be a hard old slog with that stacked against you. When I've taken meds that have induced weight gain, I find water, water, water to be the best in helping minimise any unnecessary gain.
  • I use proper porridge oats rather than the instant mix and make it up with water. This is 180kcals. I'm then not very healthy and add ground cinnamon and golden caster sugar (42kcals). That bowlful keeps me full til lunchtime!
