Congrats - kick some butt.

Depends on the person; I'd like to think most do it for balance. Although others seem to do it because they're going too fast/too steep of incline so instead of slowing down or decreasing the incline they hang on for dear life. It really annoys me... especially since people walk/run in their every day lives without holding…

Thanks guys, appreciate the input. Looking back I see I worded my post a little awkwardly from the beginning; of course a calorie deficiency will lead to weight loss. I guess what I didn't express properly was more my concern about the health factors involved since there's been some concern/debate about eating eggs every…

I'm here everyday

That's great! Way to pace yourself.

By the way... I got to say, I love this thread. There are so many annoying people at the gym, it astonishes me. What ever happened to gym etiquette?
-
Yes absolutely; I get having an "important" phone call but otherwise leave it in your car or locker. Some people argue, 'well I use my phone as my i-pod/mp3 player' ok fine but don't talk on it constantly or text when you're supposedly working out.
-
We have such an issue with that; oh yay you're so strong except you can't put the weights back OR they are constantly dropping the weights and/or grunting every set...
-
I just had that this morning; I was showering, one empty shower stall to my right, two empty to my left and a whole other row of stalls on the other side and the guy takes the one empty stall to my right. Dude! "DON'T USE THE ONE NEXT TO ME BUFFER ZONE!!!!!" Absolutely.

Yup I agree. But don't worry you will still get stronger with low weight-high rep because as you continue with let's say 10 lbs for 20 reps, that'll begin to get easier the more you lift and you'll probably want to go up in weight as it gets easier so you don't plateau.
-
I say focus on your workout. I just leave my phone in my car; I figure I'm working out, I'm busy so I can't do anything or talk at that moment anyway so I'll call them back/meet up with them when I am done. And the loud conversation with a buddy is just common courtesy anyway in the gym or anywhere for that matter... keep…

That is awesome... and so very true!

I'll be running my first marathon this Sunday actually.

Just thought I'd ask on here as well, I think I posted a topic already but I have no idea half the time if I am doing it right ha. So I will just repost on this thread since I got some good advice last time... *clears throat* I just finished a 13 mile long run on Thursday night (11/17) and I am doing a 10-week Half…

If it's a nice night out I'd say go for a nice run around campus. Otherwise I think a lap swim is always a good workout and nice way to switch it up from the 'usual' cardio.

This is a good post, I was wondering the same thing a couple of days ago. But I kind of figured like shivaslives and wellbert said, it's more so just to keep track of your weightlifting progress. But since I don't have a smartphone to instantly keep track I prefer the good ole pencil and paper route

I am a 'runner' as well, I am currently training for a half marathon in December.
-
Well I have heard that doing too much cardio can take away from your muscle but it sounds like you're including resistance training as well so I think the trainer mainly wants your money.

I'd say a good start is just by drinking a glass of skim milk, 8 grams of protein and only 90 calories. But if you're like me and have a sweet tooth I think a nice glass of chocolate milk hits the spot; although a glass of Swiss Chocolate 2% reduced fat milk has close to double the calories (170). Otherwise you can always…

I just finished a glass myself. It's a good substitute if you can't get a protein shake in. Or just a good ole fashion peanut butter sandwich and even can even wash it down with a glass of chocolate milk or if that's too much for you, a glass of skim milk or just plain water.

It's not impossible but it is hard. Watch what you eat, thatI depends if you have a school meal plan or do it yourself. IBut make time to get to the gym and to be as active as possible. Another suggestion is to join an intermural sports team, if nothing else it's a great way to meet friends who like to being active and…
