Damn, the fact that this thread is about what is better "for a woman" yoga or boxing blows my mind. I don't even know where to begin! I thought you were AGAINST perpetuating sexist ideals?

Interesting, I think OP meant more like....nasty fast food like McDonald's and stuff. I would barely even qualify Chipotle or Qdoba (which aren't synonymous btw lol), but I guess since they are quick and relatively processed it counts? If I need a healthy meal on the go I definitely hit up one of those places for a naked…

Try StrongLifts 5x5. My girlfriend started it with me last month, and she absolutely loves it.
-
You can swim with the Flex up to 10 m. You cannot swim with the One.

Great advice. Also, tightening your abs and making sure your legs are locked will ensure that you isolate your shoulders enough. Mehdi made a point of mentioning this, and it has really helped me.
-
Have you guys tried resetting the tracker?
-
Hmm do you live in an area where people would do that lol? They are probably just jealous that they don't feel confident enough to do that themselves! As in like conservative, uppity, etc?
-
What are your stats and caloric intake? What other exercise do you do throughout the week?
-
Who tells you to put clothes on? People passing by or people you know that see you work out like that?
-
Isn't this an endless argument? 3x8, 3x10, 5x5 will all be good as long as you are pushing yourself with proper form. For me it all comes down to two words: progressive overload. I forgot to state that I am a novice lifter (<1 year hard lifting). This is just an FYI for perspective purposes.

Good points all around. I have been interested in the Pulse ever since I heard about it. After some testing can you come back with comparisons? :) Also, pay special attention to the HRM function and let us know how accurately that works! I really wanna get their Wifi scale since it syncs to all the apps I use. It also has…

Please take this advice! It kills me to see people pass over the Flex because they don't realize they have settings they need to configure. I have mine on my non-dominant hand with the dominant setting turned on as described. Also, the Flex calculating wrist movement as steps doesn't happen as you guys are describing. I…

C4 or Jack3d Micro currently.

What was the test like?

Check out the book New Rules of Lifting for Women. Once you get some of the principles from that and browse through the exercises I would suggest trying a novice lifting regimen like Starting Strength or Stronglifts 5x5. Someone else might be able to weigh in with more expertise, but taking a look at those programs is a…

I passed on a membership at my local Planet Fitness because they only had Smith Machines. No stabilization muscle usage, limited range of motion, just bad in general!
-
Yes, we do yoga and just started Stronglifts together. Trying to get her into strength training!
-
Weightlifting is essential to a well rounded training program. Do it for yourself! But also, guys think it is great. I just got my girlfriend to start Stronglifts hehe.
-
It helps that I have my girlfriend doing it with me. There is nothing emasculating about lifting weights with your girl and helping each other learn proper form!

Run Keeper! Yes

I use my HRM to track non step based workouts. Even sometimes when I run to get a more accurate picture of my burn. The Flex does track steps whether the wrist is moving or not. It has 3 separate accelerometers to account for each axis of movement. Fitbit also has stride length and non-dominant vs. dominant hand settings…

Same with us. I feel like I should follow it even though I already have a little experience. I wanna do it the way it was intended even though it seems easy so far!
-
BAM couldn't have said it better myself.
-
Lol I didn't even wanna bother. :P
-
I use a Fitbit Flex in conjunction with a Wahoo Blue HRM. I love the combination since Fitbit syncs with MFP seamlessly allowing me to track 24 hour data while my HRM can be used during workouts to make my burns entered for activity that much more accurate.

Make this progression: Knee crunches -> reverse crunches -> V ups Also use oblique twist and bicycles to hit those obliques!

I realize I didn't answer your question hahaha. Run Keeper is AMAZING for running and walking. Very motivating and goal oriented with robust features like elevation, GPS, route planning. A must for runners IMO. I used to use Nike+, but Run Keeper is leaps and bounds ahead. Every Move is another good motivator. It awards…

Hmm it seems like you have conflicting goals. Most activity trackers don't have HRMs, but most HRMs aren't especially designed for 24 hour use. Since you already have an HRM are you just craving the activity tracking features for your day to day stuff?? If so, I would suggest looking at the Fuelband's other wrist worn…

I am pretty excited to get going! I am doing it with my girlfriend, so it will be fun to help her and see our progress together.

Bump. I need some opinions! After watching tons of Ice Cream Fitness videos and doing a lot more research I am gonna start a 15% surplus and hit Stronglifts really hard.
