so what's this all about?

Hi. I have a question for you seasoned weightlifters.

I went heavy this morning at my workout. Really challenged myself. When I got out of the shower at home, I saw this (see the red marks in the photo?). If you can explain what caused it, and more importantly, if I did something wrong? If so, what should I do differently next time?

Thanks in advance for your help! Please, no funny comments. I really want to know...

sorry, trying to adjust to not show so much...

    Did you take a pre-workout?

I was just wearing a workout top. No extra bra, so I don't think that's it...good question though.

    A pre-workout? Apparently I have a lot to learn...I don't know what that is.

Might help to know what exercises you were engaged in.

I think he is referring to a pre-workout shower so that when you sweat your skin is clean and not mingling with the days sweat... there is no nice way of saying that lol. Looks like a sweat rash to me :)

Pre-workouts are supplements taken before a workout to promote an increase in energy and focus.

Gives me red blotches so I don't take any , thought that might have been the same with you .
    :)good luck

Is it raised or flat to the skin surface? Hard to tell from pic.

was you by any chance using the Tension bands?
I had this going down my back from where the Latex bands had rubbed my skin, was very sore. I now apply lots of talc to exposed areas when using them!

It is not raised at all, no bumps whatsoever.

We used TRX, kettlebells, and body bars, but since it isn't sensitive to the touch or raised, I don't know that it's a rash. All good questions...apparently not a simple answer though. hmmmmm

Definitely a puzzler, sorry! Hope someone comes up with an answer for you. If it's any consolation I came out in a weird forearm rash after being in the pool a few weeks back. That was a random new one on me! (been a regular swimmer for yrs). Sometimes odd things crop up. Faded by end of day. Only other idea I've got is deep tissue bruising? but figured you'd have noticed a nasty bump.

To me it looks like a few broken blood vessels. I hear that it can be quite common from people who push themselves hard when they are in the gym, lifting weights in particular. I wouldn't worry about it, they heal themselves.

Looks like a minor rug burn type thing. The small capillaries in your skin are broken from abrasion, probably your shirt was too tight or you pinched your skin while rolling around on the floor/moving against the weight bench. It's nothing to worry about--it should go away just like the rug burns you might sustain from doing that thing on the floor that usually causes them. Heheh.

Update? What happened in the end did it resolve itself today?

the discolorations are still there, but no pain or discomfort. i tried googling it, and my best guess is as a previous person suggested...broken blood vessels. I will monitor but not worry.

Thanks again for all your responses.

In other words, "How's your rash?"

Always wanted to say that in the earnest :)
