Big fan of the Mets and whomever I draft in fantasy. I'm definitely ready for the boys of summer to return.

I am by no means an expert, but that seems really high. I believe your calculation should be 220 minus your age multiplied by .85 to get the high end of your target zone. In your case, that's about 161. I'd be careful if you are in the pushing 180 this early in the process. Keep on trying, but maybe at a slower pace?

I've only been running consistently for about a year and a half. One of the things I read when starting is you need to run 3 times a week to achieve any kind of improvement. There is a cumulative benefit that you miss out on if you run less. In terms of the elliptical, I would think that if she wants to run a half as soon…

That's what I'd call a man on a mission. Awesome job!

Fabulous post.

So, you want to tone your legs and lose belly fat? Yep, running will do the trick. Best of luck.

I agree.

Just keep doing what you're doing. Lots of the time, we are the last to notice physical differences in ourselves. At least, that has been my experience. DON"T GIVE UP! With the program you detailed, both you and others will start to notice a real difference soon. It's already happening. It just takes some patience and…

Awesome, LB. And as you know, the improved quality of your sleep is going to help you feel much more rested. Very proud of you man. Keep on pushing.

This is exactly how I feel about running. There is a definite zen in it where you body and mind are in perfect rhythm and it doesn't feel hard, but instead like the most natural thing in the world to do. As some others have mentioned, perhaps the biggest key is to run slow enough to where it's not torturous. You shouldn't…

Fantastic job, man. Lots of weight gone from everywhere. It's especially noticeable in your stomach and face. Keep up the great work!

That's some funny stuff, right there. Anyway, guys hate doing abs too. I'd say that six-pack abs are the most desired feature for men who workout. The problem is that it's also the most tedious, grueling body part to work. I guess the good news is that visible abs are more a component of what you eat than how many…

Two weeks ago, I got "laid off" from my job of 13 years as a cost-cutting move by the company. That completely derailed me. I don't think that I drove past a fast food spot without stopping to eat some junk. I just haven't felt like planning out my meals and taking the time to exercise until Wednesday of this week. I know…

Oh, Gawd. Please don't ever mention those again. Mine are: pizza, beer, and those greasy, sugary, unmentionable things.

1,200 calories is awfully low. One of the reasons that I exercise is that I get the pleasure of eating calories that I wouldn't otherwise be able to. On a typical day, my 2,150 gets bumped up to 2,800 which keeps me from feeling like I'm about to starve. You might need to exercise and (or) bump your calories up a bit. I…

That post should be required reading for everyone trying to lose weight.

Your before picture; very pretty. After picture; WOW! You look great! And thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure that lots of folks, myself included, really needed that.

To lose one pound of fat, you have to create a negative caloric balance of 3,500 in a week.. Obviously, two pounds would be 7,000. The math points out why 2 lbs is definitely on the high end unless you are losing water weight. If you consume 1,200 and burn 2,200 per day, then you have achieved it. Creating the 10,500…

1. I am 44 years old. 2. I have been married for 13 years. 3. We live in Tennessee. 4. I am a graduate of the University of Tennessee. 5. I have lost about 45 pounds, but find the mental aspect of being in maintanence mode nearly as difficult as losing weight. 6. I love good food and good beer (wine), but I also love…

Make them eat in their cars. Welcome them in afterwards.

Great link!!! I went to a orthopedic specialist a couple years ago and he suggested that I run very little because of my arthritic, balky knee. It bothered me when I first got started, but now it doesn't seem to give me any trouble at all.
-
You can run more often than every other day if you like. From what I've read, you do need to run at least 3 times per week to improve. Just listen to your body and go from there. I typically run 4-5 times a week. I take a day off before my long run and either one or two days off after it.

You're fast!!! Congrats on an awesome achievement!!

I agree. Littlelol, I don't know what you do for cardio, but I would consider running if you don't already or increasing it if you do.
-
Hope you are doing well, Risa and praying for good results from your tests.

Sorry, but I can't help but to laugh. I've been there so many times with that crazy walk and people asking me what the hell is wrong with me. Anyway, best of luck getting through it. And uh, as they say, and ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cures.
