  • OMG! This is totally my life! Hilarious!
  • They are also great as an exfoliating rub on your face.
  • Me too! I convinced a girlfriend to do it with me so we are starting after Thanksgiving. Canadian Thanksgiving, that is! :-)
  • Depends what's in it but I'd say a week max.
  • Trail mix is awesome. I make my own for the kids (or buy the wildroots brand when in a pinch) and they gobble it up. High in healthy fats. Also I cook everything in a lot of coconut oil. Saying that though - my son is small for his age too. Although at his last appt the Dr expressed concern at his weight until my son took…
  • Fantastic! Thank you!
  • I'm in - starting on the 4th. I've already got my first week of menu plans! For anyone looking for inspiration there is a fantastic website thefoodee.com that has recipes that are all Paleo and Primal. You can filter out Whole 30 complaint ones.
  • Do you have a steamer and a grill (george foreman type?) On the weekend I take out all the meat that I think I'll want to eat for the week. It slowly thaws in the fridge as the week progresses. I live for my crockpot - putting beef and veggie stews on in the morning and it is ready when I get home, Or I throw a pork chop,…
  • check your pulse periodically. If it is elevated you can log it as a gentle swim. If your in the deep end you'd be treading water. I just got back from holidays and swimming with my kids was a definite workout!
  • SOunds right to me. My trainer said the same thing last year. Unfortunately I then moved and never got into them with him.
  • Mark's daily apple is great. It would go along with his book as you are reading it. Also - I love thefoodee.com for food ideas and recipes.
  • This^^^ I use the crock pot all the time. Mine has a timer so I put it on in the morning, set the timer for about 6 hours and then it automatically switches to 'warm' mode when it is done. Easiest way to cook!
  • You may all be interested in the blog of Bruce Bradley, he talks about this stuff a LOT and is really informative. I subscribe to his posts and often pass them on. He used to be the CEO or something like that of one of the Big Box companies but is now a whole foods advocate. http://www.brucebradley.com/
  • What about meatballs. Kids always love those. I have a book called 'eat like a dinosaur' that is Paleo recipes for kids and it is fantastic!
  • This ^^^^ if I have cream or even milk in my coffee now I find I can't drink it. I used to do cream and sweetener, or those flavored sweeteners always! Now I love dark roast, black. I'm sipping one right now!
  • Thanks for all the responses. I am going to have to play around with it, I think. I do consider myself more primal than Paleo now as I eat dairy. At the moment I am only getting about 80 - 90 g of protein a day and as I am doing a lifting program (NROLFW) I would like to get that up over 100. Maybe I'll just have to add…
  • This is also how I started Paleo and I would say the opposite. I stuck to it (very hard going from conventional eating to this) but I felt so amazing, slept so well and had so much energy it was what inspired me to stick to the Paleo / Primal lifestyle. The benefits of this style of eating are very apparent when following…
  • I'm totally OK with lots of fat. I know my fat is from good sources, my only reason for decreasing it is I want to increase my protein by about 20 g a day and since my carbs are already at 25% it has to come out of the fat portion if I want to keep my calories in line. My main concern is to only burn fat and not muscle and…
  • Unfortunately I live in Canada, well fortunately, I guess cause it is all free, but I have to book an appt with the Dr. I actually called them and they said that the blood tests I had done last month for my yearly check-up were thorough ones so I am going to use those as my baseline. I actually managed to stay primal last…
  • Good idea! I'm going to see how quickly I can get that done.
  • I have this app on my iphone too. It's great!
  • The foodee project - http://www.thefoodee.com/ it compiles all the recipes that are Paleo and Primal from various blogs and you can search for what you want. Each recipe has s symbol telling you if it has non Paleo ingredients and are more primal. ie there is a wine glass if it requires a bit of wine, or a cow means dairy.…
  • If you are looking for resort work I'd head out to Banff. (Just outside of Calgary in the mountains). A lot of the Employers there also offer housing. Lake Louise is another good bet. I also live in Calgary and spent my early 20's working and having a great time out there. Do you have any hotel experience? If so- I'd just…
  • I often make 'crepe's' with coconut flour. I put the crepe in brackets as it's not really a crepe because the coconut flour mix is too thick to make them thin enough but they come out more like a wrap and are delicious. Weekend lunches usually consist of one with some local farm pepperoni and mozza cheese. Super delicious!
  • I like the Lindt Ecquador chocolate at 75%. It is super yummy and even my kids like it. :-)
  • P.S. A serving of meat is not 3 oz! That is more of an appetizer! :-)
  • General rule of thumb is that it loses 25% of its weight when being cooked. Maybe not always the case but that s the estimate I was told to use. So - if you have 5 oz cooked but you can only find 'raw' in the nutrient info then I would use 8 oz to be safe.
  • I do the routines from 'the new rules of weightlifting for women'. It is a fantastic book that has about 6 months of progressive weight lifting routines and descriptions on how to do each one of them. I highly recommend it!
  • THIS ^^^ I grew up in the country. In the fall I ordered a quarter of beef from a local farm who is organic and the cattle are ONLY grass fed. No grains at all. The cow was butchered by a local butcher. The beef is delicious and I am happy knowing that not only am I feeding my body required nutrients (including the very…
