Thanks for the tip! I try to be active like a slimmer person but recently I've lacked any sort of energy or motivation. I'm one of those people who exercise and lose weight but then stall and gain it all back. I've gone from 230lbs to 200lbs and back three times in the past 4 years.

Those P90X workouts and Insanity are really extreme workouts. I promise, it's just your body adjusting to the new movements. I've done P90X three times. Each time, I can't move the first week because of soreness/stiffness. It only lasts a couple of days. I'm in week 3 right now and don't feel it anymore.

I agree with everybody...the Yoga X sucks the most. However, for balance, flexibility and core strength it really is important. I also find it makes me break a sweat more than any other. As for the chin-up bars, I have one of the removable ones but it doesn't work in my new apartment! The door frames are all weird. Anyway,…

Thanks again for the tips! The race is over an hour away and I have to be there at about 6:15am, so I guess I'll be eating something in the car on the way. Coffee before the race? Isn't that asking for bathroom issues?!?

I understand that error though! My sister asked me how fast I run and I mistakenly told her 10 miles per minute.

Thanks for the advice everybody! I feel like I'm going to be up really early so I should be able to get something to eat a couple hours before the race. Another, slightly embarrassing, question: Any guys wear band-aids over their nipples? Two of my friends who race insist I must do this.

Lots of these bug me! Along with oh-em-gee, I hate when people will say "LOL" out loud and not even be laughing. I also notice people type sammich instead of sandwich on these boards a lot. Do people really think that's how it's spelled? Weird food combo: I used to LOVE spaghetti with ketchup.

Why is this a bad thing? Losing inches is way more important that the number on the scale. What does it matter how much you weigh before gaining muscle? Sounds like you are doing a great job and I wouldn't change a thing.

I used a chair as an assist until I was able to do pull ups. Now that the pull up bar doesn't work in my apartment, I bought bands. Not as intense, but better than nothing!

I've read things like this too, how will power is not like a decision but more like a muscle. The more you have to exercise your will power, the more fatigued it gets. Eventually we give in because we no longer have the strength to say no. When my friends don't understand my eating habits, I explain it to them as an…

If you're gonna make that correction, don't mess up the difference between mass and volume! Fat takes up more space -- more volume (less dense) than muscle. The masses would be the same as well.

Ok so this may sound weird but my girlfriend and I love it. Take a package of ramen noodles, throw away the "flavoring" and fill the package with water for about 30 seconds. Then break it up and toss it with any fresh veggies, herbs, spices, leftover chicken or beef, etc. We also like to add some fat-free greek yogurt into…

I am currently going through the same exact thing! I signed up for a half-marathon in June and had to start with the Couch-to-5k program because I hadn't run regularly in years. I was doing well in the program but kept worrying about my slow times (most runners don't have to carry around 215lbs, do they?!) and the massive…

Definitely looking into some sort of protein shake after your workouts. I used to make one out of ice, low-fat yougurt, protein powder, scoop of peanut butter and a handful of whatever fruit is sitting in the fridge. Blend it and go. I also love carbs after a huge workout. Even something simple like peanut butter on toast…

Woooooooohoooooooo! Let the Giants be underdogs once again and see what happens. They beat the Pats once in the regular season and are playing about 100 times better right now. But sure, the Pats are unstoppable. Let's see what happens after Bieber gets sacked a couple times.

Agree with you on this. According to BMI I am obese and have been for a long time. However, nobody I know would consider me obese and many don't think I'm overweight. I'm setting my goals based on fitness and how I look. Don't care if BMI wants me to weigh 150lbs. That's completely unrealistic.

Agree with this. As much as it will hurt after the first couple of workouts, keep on going back to it. It will be tough in the beginning but it gets easier. Don't try to overdo it. If you feel like you need a break at first, press pause. After a few weeks you'll realize you can do everything and keep up.

Tony Horton is annoying to listen to...just beware of that! Otherwise the workouts are awesome. In fact, I think I'll go do Kempo right now.

Too early to worry about losing weight after a couple of days! Could be that you're drinking a ton more water because of the workouts. I've had a lot of success with P90x. Keep at it!

Also, if you haven't been to skinnytaste.com you're missing out big time!

Get to a point that you feel healthy and never listen to the recommendations of a computer. I have the same issue...i'm 5'10" and it tells me I should weigh anywhere from 160-180. Right now I'm at 218 and my goal is 200. There's no way I could sustain anything under 200 and my body frame wouldn't support it. If you have…

I don't really understand this whole "balance a check book" thing. First of all, who writes checks anymore?! Second, just go online to your bank account. They keep track of everything for you!

There's a radio commercial for health insurance that runs around here that has the quote "remember, two steps forward and one step back is still one step forward." I know how you feel though. I feel like the time in between binges gets larger as I do this more. I just see how unsatisfying it can be.

$8.99/lb is about the price for meat.

I'm SO addicted to coffee that I could never give it up! I use two packets of Splenda and a bit of skim milk. My morning coffee comes in at something like 23 calories. One suggestion you may try: buy better coffee. The better quality the coffee, the less sugar and milk you'll need to put in. I drink gourmet coffee black.…

My girlfriend and I love gourds! We buy all sorts of squash and pumpkins. Last night I made pasta with pumpkin sauce....so good. But I'm always in charge of chopping the butternut squash. We use a vegetable peeler to skin it. People were right about the skin being edible. When they are baked, the skin gets caramelized a…

A mutual friend invited me to a party she was hosting and I asked her out at her own party.

I had two when I was a kid. Dr. used a laser to cut them out, but the recovery time was short. A couple of days at most.

I don't buy the "it's not his thing" argument about making meals. I say, make healthy meals and if he wants something else he can have it. If he wants to buy extra food, make him pay for it! Maybe some cooking classes?
