I had a wart on my foot a few years ago. It took weekly treatments over the course of probably about 2 months to get rid of it. (Btw, if you think it hurts now, just wait....it hurts like HELL when you get treatments.) Although my doctor did some kind of "freeze" treatment. He recommended that over surgically removing it, because the scar tissue from surgery can be as painful as having the wart itself.

Had one removed while in college, and the recovery time was short. It was in between the ball of my foot and the pad of my big toe, so it wasn't in a place that took the majority of my weight. Just think of it as a big cut on your foot...if you sliced it somewhat deeply, it would be about the same recovery time.

Edit note: mine was cut out, not frozen off.

I used over the counter wart remover on mine. It was a clear gel- forget the active ingredient. I applied it as directed and it fell off in about a month (it was a decent sized one... lol) without having to get surgery. Good luck!
  • I had two when I was a kid. Dr. used a laser to cut them out, but the recovery time was short. A couple of days at most.
  • It depends on the location of the wart, the size of the wart and how it is going to be removed. The smaller (less deep) ones can be frozen out, I've had this done and it took about two weeks to heal. It was just uncomfortable, kind of like a bruised feeling. A friend had a larger and deeper one cut out, it took longer to heal, but says it is worth it in the long run.

Another good home remedy for warts is Garlic oil.

Take a clove of garlic. Mince it into a pulp. Add the pulp to a small quantity of olive oil. Place the oil in the fridge for a day or two to let the oils from garlic mix with the olive oil. Paint the oil onto the wart several times per day for about a week and then wait patiently. After a few weeks the wart will drop off.

It does work. I used to have a wart on my hand for years. Over the years I tried all sorts of over the counter remedies but the wart kept coming back. I used the garlic oil and 5 years later the wart has never come back.
