Congratulations! That's so awesome, and such a good feeling! Glad you shared on here, and enjoy it!!

Congratulations on your big loss!! I just redid my fitness settings. I put in 158 pounds and sedentary (I have a full time desk job), and it came up with 1370 calories per day. The reason I chose 154 pounds is because that's the weight where I feel good and look good. I carry much of my extra weight in my belly and at 154…

Thank you for your detailed reply. I actually started on MFP in December 2017 at 167 pounds. I got down to 156ish in April 2018 and managed to remain in a range of 154-157 for several years and even during most of the pandemic I kept it there. But then I stopped tracking diligently and the weight started creeping up very…

I hear you! Thanks for replying and knowing I'm not alone in this. I question "what am I feeding?", but it is genuine hunger. Water doesn't do it for me; I try tea sometimes, too. Or taking a walk. But no wonder most of the population is overweight - it's just so hard to lose and maintain weight! I relate to what you said…

OP here a year and a half later! LOL! Thanks, everyone, for your replies. I have advanced to the place that I accept hubby for who he is and his choices and reminded myself that I need to find my own motivation to stick with my fitness goals, which I've done. We get out and take walks or bike rides together. I tweak our…

Thank you for your reply and your kind words. I like your suggestions for sweet replacements. I'm not sure why I'm so hungry. It seems that at my age - 63 - even if I exercise, the number of calories I can eat to sustain my weight are lower than my body (or mind) wants! Another problem I have is that if I eat, say, one…

Every account I've read on sites like this one, Nextdoor, and our local newsletters are from people who had the symptoms and believe they had it, but were not able to be tested. So it seems that the numbers of actual cases are greatly under-reported. In our county, there have been 2 deaths. Both of my parents are in care…

I'm afraid to weigh myself!
-
Where and how do you get your body fat tested?

I'm not Asian but I calculated my BMI and according to the Asian/American chart I fall into the "above healthy weight", and on the NIH one "within healthy range", but barely, since my BMI was calculated at 24.4. I definitely have folds on my abs when I sit down! But I don't think that's an accurate indicator since there…

It sounds to me like you have a healthy attitude and are at a good weight for your height and lifestyle. I'm a little perturbed that you doctor is telling you what you "should" weigh (based on what?), rather than supporting your healthy lifestyle and attitude now and maintaining an appropriate weight.

This is my situation as well.

I have done this periodically over the two year period when I was losing. I think it's a great idea during traveling and also holidays, and with both of those in the mix, I think you are being smart and realistic. Good luck!

I do exactly as you did while losing. "Maintenance" is something my body hasn't grasped. I do need to balance out a night with a cocktail or two with a day of lower calorie intake. And I still weigh myself every day.

In addition, there is food everywhere! And servings are enormous! And fast food is cheap! For people who have no clue about cause and effect, it's a landmine out there.

Yes, but there are some days when I just don't feel like logging every single item, like when I make a big salad with lots of different ingredients, or when I go out to eat and don't want to try to remember every single item, and I just guesstimate a number and add it to the meal or even the whole day. Sometimes I just…

For me, when I weighed in once a week if the weight was higher I'd get very discouraged; it seemed too long to wait for the next weigh in. So now I weigh every day and log it on Libra and when it's been a few days of higher weight I rein in my eating. Sigh, so now a rant about maintenance. It doesn't seem to get easier, at…

This. I can maintain 153 but not 150. Weird, it's only three pounds, but my body doesn't want to budge. I got down to 151.5 when I was sick with the flu, but would rather be well and a bit more rounded. I just wish, however, that we could decide where the weight gets removed. I still have a pudgy belly and my butt's a bit…

I am in maintenance. I, too, got burned out on logging diligently on weekends, so I just add the quick calorie amount for my daily allotment. I do pay attention to what I'm eating and choose wisely, and then weigh myself Monday morning and if the weight is up I eat at a deficit until it's back down. I find doing this gives…

Do you mean 1,710 calories and 1,560 calories?

I loved reading your story! Continue to be amazing!

I'm 61 years old (female), 5'8" tall, with a desk job. I cannot lose the final five pounds. I started at 167 a year and a half ago, and am at 156-158. I do a one hour Boot Camp class three mornings a week, and walk five miles the other two during the week, and most weekends do a hike or bike ride. I feel I have my exercise…

I read a report on people who had lived into their 90's and the researchers look at many different criterion - however, the only common one was that all of these people had stairs in their homes.

I think in the long run it's good for us psychologically to take a break from logging. I hear you; I get tired sometimes of logging every single morsel. Occasionally I take a daylong break or even a weekend break but am mindful of what I'm putting in my mouth. (not always accurate, but mindful). I think this helps me to…

Good for you! It does us all good to take a break once in awhile.

Congrats! I decide not to share my weight loss plans with people in my life, because instead of supporting me for what I want to do, they usually say "oh, you look fine", or "your body just wants to weigh that amount", or other not-helpful comments. I like the message board here, where everyone gets it.

I weigh daily; it helps keep me accountable, and drives my food choices for that day. I use the Libra app.

Maintenance for me is a real struggle. Stats: female, age 61, 5'7", began at 167 pounds November 1, 2017. Goal weight range is 153-155. I have reached 154 a few times, but it's very difficult for me to sustain it. I am committed to reaching it and maintaining it; I don't think it's an unrealistic weight. Am constantly…

Thank you; I guess that makes sense for some people. Not for me, so that's why I can't wrap my head around it.
