Kinda funny how those ended up near each other. I would recommend using a weighted vest to increase difficulty on pushups, pullups, lunges if you can already do them with good form and are finding them way too easy. I would NOT recommend using a weighted vest for running or anything which requires long term wear. What are…

Thoroughly enjoyed this thread, which probably means it'll be locked or closed by the time I get off work tomorrow to check the updates. Either way, I support the peeps.

I'd definitely recommend not using a weighted vest for walking/running, especially if you are already 50lbs overweight. Instead I'd recommend either switching up your walk with some interval training or changing your location to include some hill climbs

Firstly, if you were on medication you should check with your doctor, I have no idea how long the side effects of your medication can be in play but have heard for some it can take a few months. If you are only two days in I wouldn't worry about not seeing a scale change, my weight can change by ten pounds between 8am and…

Dude... He's talking about losing weight on a low carb diet while in a calorie surplus which has been the point of contention in this entire thread. He has clearly stated several times that he has no problem with low carb. To address your second point, of course low carbers (is that what they're called?) can…

@jimbunzol He is trying to figure out your overall calorie restriction so he is asking for your TDEE and how many calories you consumed per day. So unless you fasted all day on 3/2 I think you are still posting calories left over.

This, in my opinion, is the biggest benefit to someone trying out a low-carb lifestyle. Many people who seem to have trouble losing weight have a hard time portioning food and/or logging it correctly. With low-carb, a lot of calorie dense food is avoided so people can pack their stomach full of broccoli and spinach and…

Agreed, BeBop is amazing. And the cast is just as awesome in person!

Where I live its not the trees that make the parks shady haha. So I take walks in the upper-middle class neighborhoods, relatively safe and unlike the high class neighborhoods, no security guards to hassle me. B)

Why.... why do you tell me these things??

I know that error message well, also the analog dials where it runs out of room and just cycles around haha. Great job on the loss man!

MFP always delivers.

I have no idea how some of you guys can read while running, would love to but the bouncing motion messes me up too much and I constantly lose my place. For music though I found Two Steps from Hell is really good for getting lost in

My wife is the same way, I could eat big salads every day but she is at a point where the thought of eating more vegetables irks her. Best thing I can suggest is try to make or mix vegetables in new ways. Lately we've been having a lot of curried roasted cauliflower and carrot fries which are amazing. Also we will…

While I have heard concern about organ damage I have not seen data to back it up so I won't go either way on this. Just wanted to point out that if you decide to do this do not skimp and get a cheap one. Always steer away from wooden boned models and inspect the seams over the boning before putting it on.

This. You don't want to make some radical temporary change, but develop good sustainable habits. Good job sticking to it!

I also weigh first thing in the morning but that is just to insure I always weigh in at the same time to minimize fluctuations.

One of the reasons I think quitting smoking was much easier for me as well was I could distance myself from cigarettes. After a little while so long and I wasn't around them I rarely thought about them. With food however, I can't just stop eating, so there was always that little thought to overindulge, just this once.…

The dumbest I've heard this week are: 1. Magnets on your toes 2. Wrap stomach in kelp 3. Eat whatever you want and use Alli to remove all traces of fat from your food 4. Eat a calorie surplus but just restrict carbs 5. Use a waist trainer to compress fat and train stomach to look smaller all the time

Great job man! As a side note, I'm super envious of your beard!

@ninerbuff Noticed you are near-ish to Stockton. If you are ever there, get a burger from Flips, sooo good.

@judiness101 Oh wow I'd forgotten about this guy, thanks for the link! Now that I think about it though I remember the surprising cholesterol results had sparked conversation about a more in-depth study, looks like I need to do some research to see what came of that.

Honest question, because I've seen this exact reference three or so times today. Do you really think the CICO/IIFYM crowd exist solely on Twinkies and ice cream? I've seen several posts today referring to IIFYM as the "Twinkie diet" and while sure, if you can make Twinkies fit into your macros and eat under caloric…

Hey Alabaster, I can understand where you are coming from. A lot of times we look at what worked for us in the broad sense and figure, "well, it worked for me, it'll work for you", but without understanding the 'why', using anecdotal evidence instead of empirical data can be very misleading. I spent a long time practicing…

Its like being slapped in the face, BY SCIENCE! Also thank you for posting that, apparently sciencedirect doesn't like me right now, I've been trying to get that page to load since the link was first posted.

Dear god I do.

Sudden realization, are you using some kind of activity tracker that you wear all day which is telling you what your total burned calories in a 24hr period are including your BMR? So if it is tracking your heart rate all day and your BMR is 2600 and you take a walk worth 200 cals it spits out 2800 for the day?
