  • Holiday time is the only time I bake sweets, Christmas being the biggest season. This year I baked two cheesecakes, four pies and dozens of cookies to give away. The problem I have is all the "taste testing" and having left over ingredients, like graham crackers. Then their are others who give ME treats and everyday there…
  • One day at a time. Keep your MFP food diary up to date at all times. Then look at it. Do you need to add protein, cut back on carbs today? Alter your diet around your needs for the day. Don't forget, there are plenty of delicious, health foods.
  • Sure add me. 50 lbs by Christmas sounds like a reachable goal....with a lot of hard work. I'm ready though.
  • Can I jump in? I'd love to lose at least 50lbs. It's going to be a long haul. My highest was 217, down to 209. It's a start but not the end of the journey.
  • Hey old habits die hard but we can get back on track if you really want to. I know that if I go a lengthy period of time without exercising, it gets harder to start over again. I can tell you, the hardest part is getting out of the door but once you're there, you'd be surprised how easy it will be to get back into the good…
  • I think it's okay to cheat a little as long as it's in moderation. I allow myself a cheat day a week but it will be maybe a slice of pizza or some ice cream. Binges are not good. It's a path back into old habits. If I think I want to go a little overboard on my cheat day, I will exercise a little more and burn extra…
  • Muscle and fat are two totally different things. Turning muscle into fat would be like turning a cat into a dog. :-) Losing weight and building muscle can be done but it does take a lot work and consistency. The latest I've read states you really need to workout for about 90 about five times a week. Newbies may want to…
  • I got a lot of *kitten* to move too. Yeah, I'm in.
  • I just thought I'd throw out my morning smoothie recipe. 1/4 cup almond milk, 1/2 cup of oats, 1/2 cup mixed berries, ( I usually blend a few pounds of them and strain out the seeds and store in the fridge) five or six strawberries, 1/2 cup fat free vanilla yogart, 1 small banana, 2tsp wheat germ, 2 or 3 tsp Grape Nuts…
  • I think for my age and height, I'm supposed to be 145lbs. I find that a vague number because while I'm well over that weight, I do a lot of weight training, so some of this weight is muscle.
  • The only thing I'm craving is a Red Robin cheeseburger and fries but that's over 1000 calories in a sitting which are the majority of my daily in caloric intake. I'd have to do excessive workouts during the week just to afford that.
  • I had a homemade smoothie today. 1/4 cup almond milk, 1/2 cup oats, 1tsp wheat germ, 1/2 cup berries, 1 banana, 1/2 cup fat free vanilla yogart, 5 strawberries, two table spoons Grapenuts (mostly for texture) and crushed ice in a blender. Great tasting and fills me up and I can take it to go. It's about 475 calories. Stay…
  • I go at least 2x per week and would like to add to it. No doubt it's tough but well worth it. I've seen results not only in my legs and butt, but lower back and abs as well.
  • I've been trying to lose weight and get in shape on my own for far too long. I'm gaining muscle but not losing fat. My 14 jeans which used to fit me fine is not very snug. I don't want to go to a 16. Maybe keeping track of what I eat and the excercises I do will help me tweek a program that will finally take the fat off.
  • Maybe breaking your meals down into several small meals per day will help keep you on track. Have your oatmeal but between meals eat an apple or other peice of fruit to get you through to lunch. A trainer also recommended eating a handful of Emeralds Chocolate almonds. They're only dusted with cocoa, no sugar added to…
  • That's exacly how I am. One taste and I'm done. I too feel better now that it's out of my system. I feel much younger too.
  • Just logged in yesteday. As for cheat days. Some of us can't handle cheating. For me to cheat would be like a recovering alcoholic having a cheat day. I Can't do it. I can eat very well for months on end and be quite okay with that but the moment I let my guard down and decide to cheat a little, that little taste turns…
