  • I'm actually using the scale at the gym which measures weight and body fat with hydration. I've used the hand scale at clinic as well. Maybe I'm wrong but that's not the whole point of my post. I've been doing less strength and my fat is going up. My question was about self sabotage, thanks to those who were sincere on…
  • Nope its not an error . I'm back up to body fat percentage of about 14% now. I'm having a very difficult time with exercise. My heart rate is becoming very difficult to get up now. I'm still dedicated to group exercise but its becoming less and less helpful. The crap ism heating tends to deal with alcohol consumption, and…
  • Thanks for the information! I'll have to discuss that with my Dr further. I do have a big lap of excessive skin around my midsection. Since I've lost I'll admit that I do have more wrinkles than before, but I'll tell you this has been worth it! Exercise has helped tighten, but the neck has a derivative OF SKIN of it's own…
  • Thanks for the advice, I will do!
  • If you're exercising more, make sure you're drinking A LOT of water. Flushing your body and keeping those joints and muscles hydrated. 64oz is good goal...
  • Set goal for a male is 1800 calories per day. If you're just getting started, don't sweat it if you go over a little bit. Weight loss happens when you exercise and stick to that 1800 calorie goal. Don't eat back what you're exercising off ????. Just guessing but that goal is probably much less than you were eating prior to…
  • I would be more than willing to do that, but truly the only area I know how to focus on is triceps. What other lifting/ focus should I try?
  • I feel the same way, awkward. Typically oblivious because unless they're like DANG, I'm not truly paying attention..lol
  • Your over all calorie target should be 1800 calories. Not including your reduction due to exercise. Once you hit that 1800 you should be done. You want those net calories! It doesn't make sense to have a (for example my goal 1250) calorie limit to eat 1250, go to the gym and burn 5-6 hundred, then eat those 5-6 hundred…
  • I believe there is an addiction element with food. Same as alcohol, drugs, over exercising to the detriment on one's own body. Personally I have a problem saying no to foods I shouldn't eat, knowing they not good for me, but eating them anyway. Often eating when not hungry etc. For me it's became more of awareness of why…
  • Best decision you have made for yourself! Welcome and you can add me if you like. Its been 10 month journey and educational experience. Great progress will come with your dedication. ????
  • Your body can get used to a "normal" routine of exercise. To be honest, your weekends might be your demise. I have the same challenges with weekend eating. Try mixing up your exercise routine, try doing a different class, or rotate during your session run, weights 10/15 minute rotation. Your body gets used to the same olé,…
  • Wonderful job! congratulations, one Sp. Ed. To another...
  • I would not recommend that at all. In fact, eating LESS more frequently would benefit you. Problem is, you need to really re-train your brain and eat less at a sitting. A strategy I used was to make my normal plate, then go to the table with an extra plate. Take half of it off, and store it for later. Or in general, plan…
  • granola bar 1/4 of whole piece, 1 marshmallow, 3 chocolate chips = 100 calorie smore :) whole wheat crackers 5, and happy farms, or skinny cow spreadable cheese 1= 95 calories SF pudding frozen into freezer pop made with ff milk = 25 calories I can eat these all day when it's hot!
  • Okay so if punishing him by removing things from him don't affect change, then it's not going to matter what you take away, or make him do. He's in that stage where he's trying to find where he "fits". In my classroom there are many students who don't do their homework and the natural consequence to that is failing or not…
  • Don't worry about making us happy, we're all here for you good, bad, and ugly. Use this opportunity to make yourself happy! Not going to say that it won't be painful, because your body is going to resist at first. After some time though, it will learn from your mind that you mean business. I hope that makes sense. Now that…
  • Wow, you really have been through allot in your life time. Let me just say that you have made a good first choice by first, realizing that there is a problem and second, you want to do something about it. Hey, there is no need if you cannot afford the gym to go there. Even sitting on the couch, and lifting cans of fruit or…
  • Protein shakes with some yogurt, fruit, nuts, and almond, or soy (better choice) milk will easily add 500 calories to your diet.
  • Actually starting your day with food, does help (not boost) your metabolism. Once you wake up your body is in sort of "what next" mode. If you eat a healthy breakfast it will help regulate your sugar and not cause your body to "want". Keeping your sugars in a normal range helps you to 1. crave less foods, 2. actually does…
  • Go on Amazon, they're cheaper there!
  • Turning 40 was my time to make a decision, lose weight and enjoy another 40 OR continue on and struggle with health related issues. I've lost 47 and still have about another 30 to go. Please add me, ohiowhthse or (Helen White)
  • I'd have to say both! I was tired all the time, and my sugar levels/health was a mess. Turning 40 was a milestone where I decided I wanted to be around to enjoy another 40 years of my life with all of my limbs and mobility! I'm here to get into shape, and remove myself from what "norm" considers obese status. I can say…
  • I've seen family and friends. Everyone has told me how great I look and ask how I've done it. Of course I say watch what I eat and exercise, but mostly MFP. Many have told me I don't need to lose anymore (which hey that's my choice) but many do say it's a lot of work. Well duh, that's why so many people fail at it, they…
  • Okay, makes sense. I have been measuring 1x a month. This past month no change, except thighs 1/2 inch smaller. Makes sense, I'll try eating back some calories and see how that goes for awhile. Dr. is going to have to help me with the food/issue if i'm still eating too much protein etc, because I'm truly not positive i'm…
  • Okay, so if I burn all of those calories when I exercise I should be eating that many more calories? Doesn't that keep me at the current weight if I'm not having net?
  • I used to, but not anymore. I became too comfortable thinking it was "only 1 lb". Those added and before I knew it I was almost 230 lbs. No more! I do weigh ins on Monday (helps me eat less in wknds). Not only that but even a bowel movement can remove 1-2 lbs.
  • There are a bunch of fiber bars and snack packs out there with only 100 calories. Try to avoid the nuts, while they are good they have high calories. Also meals I love chicken with spaghetti sauce and a little brown rice!
  • I usually eat 150-250. Boiled egg, and a piece if toast, Just a suggestion for you to eat your oats and your drink for breakfast, and scoot your banana with a big glass if water for a mid morning snack. That will help with cravings and keep your sugar more stable until lunch :)
