How bizarre. I was looking at the group this morning (UK user) and now it's most definitely gone. Good to see something in its place. Thank you!

I have an auto-immune disease am on immunosuppressants and therefore have a compromised immune system. I have to be very careful with exercise and have learnt to listen to my body. I know that if I do too much I crash and burn. My weight loss has been slow and steady, unlike some on here, but it know that I am doing it…

I love ebay. I sell the items I've slimmed out of and use the money to buy new. There are plenty of never worn items for sale but if you can get over your dislike of preworn clothes there are even more bargains to be had!

I've been on this for a year now and lost 50lbs - despite being on steroids & thyroxine and having difficulty exercising as my lungs don't function properly. So I'm pleased with it. I eat at maintenance for my goal weight on the 5 days, thereby teaching myself what my maintenance should look like. As I take medication I…

My husband was quoting this article to me at breakfast!

Hi, I'm Sarah, currently residing in Cornwall. Have put on weight over the last few years - run of lupus related ill-health. Been 5:2ing since last May, resulting in a slow but steady weight loss. :flowerforyou:

This is Daily Mail scaremongering. In the article it appears that the question asked was around cases where 'children taken in to care where obesity was a factor'. Please note the phrase, 'was a factor'. Obesity on it's own is unlikely to be the cause. My husband and I have just been approved as potential adoptive parents,…

Try agirlcalledjack.com amazingly cheap and healthy recipes. She has become well known here in the UK speaking about the problems around food poverty and the rise in use of foodbanks. If you want to eat healthily and cheaply it can be done you just have to be prepared to think creatively and spend some time planning ahead.…

Do something else whilst watching. I knit or crochet, if my hands are busy I don't feel the need to eat. My husband who just watches the tv is always wanting something more to eat! Though i'm not sure what 'more masculine' hand occupying things I could suggest to him!

Too many soft centres in Roses, much prefer Quality Street (tin already purchased for Christmas and being stored out of sight!). Have you noticed that the tins are getting smaller?!

Tbrain1989 I do hope you are being sarcastic. A 1lb of fat weighs exactly the same as a 1lb of muscle. You are right in saying muscle is denser, so a 1lb of muscle has a smaller volume than a 1lb of fat in the same way that a 1lb of chicken has a smaller volume than a 1lb of lettuce. But a 1lb is still a 1lb no matter what…

Exercise causes fat to turn into muscle Often combined with Muscle weighs more than fat

I'm back on plaquenil for the second time and haven't had any problems in relation to my eyes. Just have regular tests. As for ' is it worth it?' Definitely yes. Earlier this year I had a lot of 'niggles' - slight rash, achy joints, this despite being on steroids and immunosuppressants. My rheumatologist but me back on…

Yea! My husband wore one when we got married

My first short term goal is to fit in a dress that I wore the summer I got married, four years ago. I want to wear it to a friends wedding at the end of October, but my weight loss has slowed down, so it might not happen  After that, I want to see if my lupus gets better and if I can reduce medication levels.

Haven't tried these but might be a solution for wearing under dresses etc http://www.bandelettes.com/ As I have had DVT's in both legs I have to wear compression stockings and when they are new I have muffin top thighs, which rub! As my legs will now always be large I don't think I'll ever get away from this.

I've had lupus from the age of 16 (now 44). Since then I've had reynauds and Sjögren's syndrome but fortunately not scleroderma. When I was diagnosed aged 20, I was told that my lupus would go after my menopause but now that more research is being done and there is more awareness I realise that this might not be the case…

From my school days I remember that human hair contains protein so there is potentially some nutritional value in beards...
