  • I completely agree with finding a private therapist - by sheer luck, during an extremely emotionally challenging part of my life when I sought therapy, I happened to connect with someone who had specialty working with people who had eating disorders. I cannot tell you the amazing amount of good that she was able to do for…
  • I totally am in your shoes!!! I'm the mom to a one year old and also currently working on my MSN. Would love support from another busy mom!
  • I second this!! What a moron - it wasn't because of anything you did wrong, and don't let his negativity tell you otherwise. I was 165-170lbs when I first started dating my husband and last year I capped out at 242. He still tells me that I'm beautiful. He also has gone from about 320lbs to 365 and is now down to 295 and I…
  • OK, mine are a bit off the beaten path. . . . Mike Rowe (the guy on the Ford commercials and the host of Dirty Jobs on Discovery. . .dear LORD he's sexy) David Boreanaz I also have a tiny crush on Adam Richman (guy who hosts Man Vs Food on Travel Channel) just because I think he is absolutely adorable and his dynamic…
  • Not sure about interim rewards, although I suppose I could have some - I think if I reached my ultimate goal weight, I would really like to do a pinup shoot. The biggest reward, though, is being able to shop in the stylish section of stores!!!
  • Oh honey, I'm so sorry that you have been getting negative feedback from all of these sources so close to you. You are stunning!!!!! As someone who has a mother with serious body image issues as well as someone who struggled with self-loathing for much of my life, I just want to tell you to allow yourself a little bit.…
  • I have been super inspired by my hubby who has lost over 50lbs in the past 1 1/2 years. I want to be with him for the rest of our long, healthy lives together. :) I'm also in the process of trying to have a baby and want to be healthy not only for the pregnancy but to keep up with our little one! Another big motivator for…
  • I always gain a little right around the time that AF comes due to cravings and just bloating in general. It usually goes away quickly, and I'm sure it will for you as well!! Like the above poster said, it's difficult to gain that much weight in a short period of time - it was probably mostly just water weight.
  • As long as it isn't a stomach bug, it's actually good to eat a bit OVER your calorie goal when you aren't feeling well. If you think about it, your BMR is actually being raised especially if you have a fever. Your body is working overtime to try and fight off whatever you have, and thus it needs more fuel. Having been sick…
  • Just wanted to say that as a nurse of nearly 8 years, I second this!!! I'm so sorry you had to go through such abuse. Sounds like you handled it with grace, self-confidence and pride!! There have been lawsuits for less than this in regards to "weightism", where physicians refuse to see the patient as a whole being and…
  • Huh! Interesting, I suppose I should clarify a little bit by what I mean when I say "strict". Had you asked me 7 years ago what I mean by "strict", I would tell you that I wanted to eat under 700 calories a day. I would tell you that I wasn't happy unless I was feeling hungry. I would give you a great sordid tale of how…
  • So I'm new to MFP and have been just looking through the message boards - I LOVE this thread!! Hubby and I are big beer snobs. We LOVE our microbrews. I also just adore some good tasty wine every now and again. This past weekend was just about a three day bender for me. Not really, but I was definitely at least heavily…
  • Thanks so much for asking this question - I too am on Lexapro and the combination of that and quitting smoking was NOT beneficial to my weight!! It's good to know that weight loss is still doable on that med in particular :)
  • Hey! Welcome! I'm pretty new as well, and looking for motivation! Hope you don't mind if I add you :)
