  • bumb-sounds yummy!
  • bumb- very interesting. I eat oatmela all the time but never thought of savory oatmeal!
  • I haven't tried the Rice Milk yet, but I LOVE almond milk (with desserts, in cereals, etc...it's great). I try to stay away from a lot of soy since I have thyroid issues(too much soy elevates the hormone levels).
  • I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Even though you say you aren't, well...of course you are depressed, you are grieving! I was a wreck when I had to put my dog to sleep, it took me a year to stop crying at the drop of a hat (even after we rescued another dog). I think you are using the food to numb the saddness you feel at…
  • Bring your clothes and get some exercise in. If the girls you are going with don't exercise...that means they are either naturally in shape, or they are not concerned with their fitness and weight like you are..sadly those of us on here are not naturally in shape and we do care about our weight loss. So...if you are with…
  • I sabotage myself like it's my job! Everytime I start to tone up, or feel the clothes are a bit loose, or someone mentions that I look good, I eat somthing bad and whatever I lost comes back. I don't have a lot to lose, so I think I play some mind game with myself. Like, oh, well it's only 12lbs, it really won't take that…
  • Hi tu2mama. An hour is plenty to time to wait before eating after you take your pill (my prescription says take 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating). What do you take your medicine with? A lot of juices, like orange juice, can counter-act the medicatiosn effects. Also, .50 mcg isn't a whole lot of medication, that is…
  • Thank you everyone for the tips! I've heard a lot about Zumba so I'm going to look into it this weekend, along with the Ellen Barrett DVD's. I think I may have an old Richard Simmonds vhs tape somewhere,lol... I do remember his workouts as being intense but not to stressful on the joints. Thank you again everyone
  • 1) exercise isn't about just losing weight or inches, it is something our bodies need to function properly and for our overall health... so try to look at it as something goo d you do fo ryour health rather than just to lose weight. 2) I know exactly how you feel...anyone who tries to lose weight goes through this at one…
  • Hi Steph, I never heard of that book but I am definitly going to check it out. It is crazy to me that everyhitng will be fine and then one day I'll just snap...and it;s not like I want to snap, but it happens anyway! I feel teh same way, like I have to eat ALL of whatever it is until it is gone and then I feel like I can…
  • Perfectly stated, thank you! I'm prettty much white knuckling everything these days. My white knuckling makes me have mini breakdowns, where I eat poorly or skip exercise because I get afraid that I am doing well! I'm also making a huge change, getting ready to start my pre'req's for a degree program at an "older age" and…
  • I don't think you need professional help (yet anyway, lol). If you are new to this lifestyle, than of course it will be all consuming for a while. Making drastic changes is a big thing, and for people who struggle with weight it's an even bigger thing, Trying to stay on top of cravings, bad feelings and alter your mindset…
  • BUMP!!!!
  • that sounds delicious!
  • ugh- I get the same way! Last week it was donuts...I never eat them but for some reason this monthy my body wanted...needed...demanded donuts!!! I ate healthy food, worked out extra, tried to distract myself...nothing worked and I caved :( I ate donuts...many donuts. I wish I knew why every month there is always one food,…
  • It just moved me on so many levels! The loyalty and compassion between the two dogs (when the one tries to move and the other puts his paw on his head, like "no buddy, don't move, I'm here...), the joy that they were saved and will be ok, (apparently they are now in a shetelr being taken care of) and the saddness once I…
  • I usually pull out every trick in the book: raw veggies, drink water, exercise, go for a walk, distract yourself, wait 10 minutes to see if the craving passes, chew gum, suck on hard candy, even look up how many calories whatever I crave is so that maybe it will deter me...you name it. Most of the time one or a combination…
  • I hate the idea of calling them "cheat days"...makes it sound like we are doing something sneaky, shady and just plain wrong. and it makes the idea of the healthy choices we make seem like a punishment that we have to escape. This is about lifestyle...it is ok to have foods you enjoy . Just, for those of use who struggle…
  • Hypothyroidism is my arch nemesis! I was always very thin (underweight in my youth and teen years!), very active and never a really big eater (I liked my sweets but didn't really over do it). I was a 100lbs at 19 years, then...boom! By the time I was 20 I was up to 150lbs,utterly exhausted, with dry, frizzy hair that fell…
  • I do the shred almost everyday, and have seen really good results in just a few weeks (honestly saw results after week one). I think the short intense bursts as in the video does more than the gym(but that is just my opinion), I think to really see the results from it you have to do it everyday or pretty close to everyday.…
  • If you are on the message boards and like a link or an article or recipe (or anything) on a message and want to save it for later, but don't have anything you want to say on the board, you type in "bump". It links the post to your "my topics" section so you can refer back.

  • Same for me, I check in with MFP and put the snack down or make a better choice-this site is incredibly motivating! Plus I just try to remind myself that I am not on a diet and am not depriving myself of anything, I am changing my lifestyle for the better. I remind myself that Iam not one of those people who can eat all…
  • Agreed- taking a multi-vitamin is fine for just about everyone, but if you want to take specific, individual vitamins you should check with your doctor first and get blood work done to see what, if anything, you are deficient in. You can end up making youself sick if you overload on vitamins that your body isn't lacking.
  • bump-sounds yummy!
  • My husband and I have very different eating habits- he lives on take out and fast food, and I'm a vegetarian who eats tons of whole, fresh foods. I love cookies and cakes, he could live without them. My husband is also in great shape, while I am always trying to lose those 10lbs. He knows that I love chocolate and ice…
  • D8,L1- have to do modified cardio thanks to my bum shin muscle, but I still worked up a sweat. Did a lot of punches with a deep squat and lots of windmills and arm circles to try and get the heart rate up, it seemd to work. Am definitely getting better at the moves and feel stronger. Still can't do all the push-ups, but I…
  • @ meadows654 ; thank you for the stretching adivce! Turns out I pulled a muscle in my shin and have "shin splints", which is the generic term I guess for any lower leg pain. I have to do stretches, ice it and take anti-inflammatory meds for a few days-and I have to lay off the cardio until it heals, which sucks!! I'm still…
  • D7,L1-I have to admit, I am getting better at this workout. It isn;t getting easier, but I am able to do more for longer. 3 more days until I move on to Level 2! I'm a little disappointed though, have only lost 1/2lb since I started. I'm doing this plus my yoga 5 times a week so I hoped that I would have lost more. I do…
