30 Day Shred question

I have the 30 Day Shred DVD and have incorporated it into my fitness routine. I shred 2 times per week and go to the gym for cardio workouts the other days. I feel like I am getting a good workout from the shred but wonder if I am burning as many calories as I would have doing a 40 min workout on the eliptical.
So, my question is - what has been your experience? Is the shred worth giving up a nite at the gym?

Just a thought - why not do the shred and maybe 20-30 on the eliptical. The shred is only 20 mins...0

Hi! I'm doing the same routine, but 30DS 3-4x/week with cardio 5 days a week. I think the video and cardio in the gym will achieve different results. I am using 30DS to tone once the fat is gone, but you may have a different purpose for the video.0

Yes, I think you have to change up your routine and push yourself in all areas, cardio and strength. Jillian knows what she is doing and she kicks my butt!! If I'm wrong, what's the harm? Your still losing weight, your strengthening and you are pushing your body to new levels. It's only 2 nights a week anyway, go for it!!0

I do the shred almost everyday, and have seen really good results in just a few weeks (honestly saw results after week one). I think the short intense bursts as in the video does more than the gym(but that is just my opinion), I think to really see the results from it you have to do it everyday or pretty close to everyday. I used to be a gym person, but found that the shred along with my yoga 6 days a week has made more of an impact than anything I ever did at the gym (even with the gym and yoga!!!), plus it doesn't take as long so I can do other things besides hang at the gym for a few hours every night, lol. Once my 30 days are up, I'm going to try her other dvds, which I have also heard great things about.0

I think the shred is worth doing b/c it works strength training into your routine. Building more lean muscule with help your body burn more cals. If I'm feeling good after my shred I sometimes go for a 15-20 minute walk outside after to burn a few more cals. I love the shred for busy nights b/c its so short. Keep up the good work0

I do the 30 DS everyday but I also do other cardio for at least another 30 minutes. I use a HRM and I find I do not burn enough calories just doing the shred for my goals.0

adorak, May I ask how many calories you burn with the 30DS? Guess this is another reason I need to get a HRM!I do the 30 DS everyday but I also do other cardio for at least another 30 minutes. I use a HRM and I find I do not burn enough calories just doing the shred for my goals.0

The Calories I burn can fluctate depending on my energy level for the day and how much effort I put into it. I usually range from 190 to 220.0

Good to know - I was just guestimating 200, so I wasn't too far off probably. Thanks.0
