  • Which is more funny; the gifs or the people defending the OP and the garbage he posted? Not sure yet, must read again.

  • TOM has a LOT to do with it. Also (despite what people say) you are NOT gaining enough muscle in that amount of time to make a difference. However, your muscles retain more water when they are being repaired so if you are working out hard, you can have more retained water until your muscles repair themselves. TOM and water…
  • So is this something you do for the rest of your life? Because that's a problem with "fad diets" even if they work. Once you stop doing them and move on with life, you'll probably gain :( Good luck to you though.
  • Not sure what your stats are, but 1200 is normally the bare minimum to eat, you more than likely need to eat more. Figure out what your TDEE is and eat 10%-20% less (depending on how close to your goal you are).
  • Read this as well http://www.leighpeele.com/starvation-mode I made some changes based on this and started moving again. In a nutshell, there is no "starvation mode" but there IS adaptations that happen when we are at a calorie deficit. Sometimes you gotta increase what you eat for a while to get everything back to normal…
  • If you are using the MFP format, you are supposed to eat your calories from exercise back. If you are doing TDEE-x% then you eat that every day. Those NOT eating your exercise calories back, you will regret it eventually. I was the same way when I started and thought I was fine, then crashed hard. Those who say they can't…
  • So much misinformation in this thread.... so.much
  • Mmm, flying fudge...
  • This may have been said, but let me put it this way... I AM A HYPOTHETICAL PERSON I can eat 2000 calories each day to maintain my weight I can eat like this: Breakfast 400 calories Lunch 500 calories Dinner 700 calories Dessert 400 calories Or I can eat like this: Breakfast 1000 calories Lunch 1000 calories Or I can eat…
  • I love how people still associate "pizza" and "chinese" and "eating out" with being fat. I got fat eating most of my meals at home. I've lost 60 pounds eating out quite often since then (and stay within my macros for the most part). Let's continue to blame pizza and chinese. Pizza.... MMMMMmmmmmmm Also to note; I've not…
  • Just as an FYI, I went in on Friday and did my Stronglifts and muscled those 130 pounds over my head doing Overhead Press. Onto 135!
  • Thanks everyone for the advice, critiques and words of encouragement. I tend to try and keep my eyes off the mirror and off of others in the gym because I don't want to compare myself to them. But when I see some short, stout guy crawl under 8 plates to squat, it makes me feel feeble :D I'll avoid the 1RM attempts and just…
  • It seems most everything telling me where I "should" be is all about 1RM. I have been working on my DL form as well as my rows form, but everything else is good, and I have progressed each day of the program, so I guess that's good :) That works. I am fairly certain on Friday I will stall out on my press but I guess that…
  • Thanks for that. And I know I can't compare to others, but the problem that I am finding is everything is about 1RM and I am doing SL5x5 so I don't know what my 1RM is. Should I take a week off of SL5x5 and find out what my 1RM is? When I started the program, I started from the bottom (other than deadlifts and squats which…
  • I thought the same thing when I started. "How am I supposed to eat 2000 calories PLUS eat back my exercise!?" But if you're overweight, you got there by overeating, you have to be able to consume more. And if you are exercising, you need to fuel your body appropriately. It'll take some time to adjust, get used to and find…
  • I eat over 3k a day and lose weight (I'm 6'4" and went from 337 to 281) though I've stalled lately for some reason. Currently seeing if I need to "refeed" or if I am doing something wrong. But yeah, I'd be well over 2100 calories either way.
  • GWW makes this thread popcorn worthy for sure, good god
  • Been doing Stronglifts 5x5 for a couple months and am currently at 5 reps @ 225 and it is pretty easy. Not sure what my 1RM is, yet. When I was in High School I was on the all-time Wall of Fame doing 405 when I was 17. Maybe I'll get there again someday.
  • Carbs won't make you fat or keep fat on you. Calories do. If you know your macros and can fit cold cut sandwiches, chips, pasta, etc. into your macros then eat them.
  • I am not sure how you can be doing it wrong, was a broad, sweeping statement. But I can tell you that nothing is 100% accurate but the BodyMedia device is as close as it can get. I have consistently lost weight since using it eating a lot more than I did when I was guessing. As many say, treadmills and ellipticals and…
  • I gained all my weight from over-consuming fruits, veggies, whole wheat, multigrain, etc. I did NOT eat bleached flour, white flower or wheat flour. Paradox!
  • http://thediettrain.wordpress.com/ Even though I use the dreaded "diet" word - and I can't honestly say I eat healthy (I follow IIFYM) - I am blogging my life above!
  • Thanks for the responses everyone. To touch on a few points... I do strength training and I change it every 2-4 weeks so I am not always doing the same thing. The same goes for cardio; I don't always just run or just walk, I add in HIIT and things to change it up. I always try to get to (or exceed) my fiber intake and…
  • You people are not helpful. You have a "regular" scale to weigh yourself, right? Stand on it and get your weight, then get off and grab that chicken and get back on. Do math, Bob's your uncle, problem solved.
  • Here's a shot from Bodymedia for the past 28 days. Is it possible that I am not eating enough? It seems I am averaging closer to 1700 calorie deficit per day... should I really try to get that to 1000 calories?
  • I do tend to have 3000-4000 mg of sodium each day, but I've been having that since the start. We don't always make all our own food and when we do, there still always seems to be a lot of sodium in it. And with the Bodymedia I don't really have to adjust my calories as I lost weight, I adjust my weight in the program and…
  • Ate 2741, burned 4232. Could have eaten more but was good...
  • Because of all of these "Fast Food" threads today, I am going to be eating out tonight. Not only am I eating out, but I will be getting a hamburger and fries from 5 Guys, chicken nuggets from Wendy's and a Big Mac from McDonalds. And I'll still be under my calories AND here tomorrow... 0,0 Who's with me!?
  • Best investment I've made. Anyone who says that the calorie count is way off is doing it wrong. I've been using it for a few months and lost 56 pounds. I know at the end of the day exactly where I stand. I know if I can add to what I am eating or if I need to cut back. There is no guess work in how many calories I burned.…
