  • Welcome to all the newbies! Jump right in, ask questions, start new topics - we have great discussions! Welcome back @katharmonic! I am so glad to see you back here. Do you think you will be doing some mud runs again once you are all healed? You, @polskagirl01 and I are all in recovery mode trying to get back to running!…
  • So many accomplishments and great running for everyone this year! You all are terrific!! @AlphaHowls - Yea for negative test and feeling better! @SummerSkier and @quilteryoyo - The ships in the Panama Canal are actually lifted using water from a man made fresh water lake that pulls water from the local river, so the…
  • I am still trying to determine a goal for January as well as for the year overall. January may end up being a get out and do as much as I am able with no specific mileage goal. I also joined Run the Year - 2024 but haven't figured out my goal there yet either. May await to hear what my doctors think I will be able to do.…

  • Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you! I hope you have a wonderful holiday surrounded by family and friends! We are sticking close to home. We were supposed to have Christmas dinner with our SIL and our nieces but decided to play it safe and go for a visit only. One of our nieces lives in DC and we haven't seen…
  • Oh no! @kgirlhart and @AlphaHowls - I hope you have mild cases! @AlphaHowls is there anyone else who could come in and help out with your mom? I am definitely in the count all your walking miles group - goodness you certainly do enough to get credit for all of it. Also I love your sunrise pictures! The colors are…
  • @quilteryoyo - I love that picture of you too! You are definitely streaking across the finish line! @swenson19d - The Dobies are gorgeous and look like sweet girls! I hope Kevin's knee is better soon and heals well. Do you still have all the kitties too? How do they get on with all the big pups? I hope the lump is nothing…
  • @Laurz9191 - I don't think I said congratulations on getting into the Berlin Marathon! We have a friend in the Netherlands who invited me to come run any race I chose in Germany, with him. That was before the pandemic but I would still love to get over to run one there, Berlin, Munich... @quilteryoyo - great job finishing…
  • @kgirlhart - I am so sorry about your pup! It is such a hard decision and our hearts don't want to let go. I have sat on the floor at the vet office crying, with too many pups in my arms, after making that decision so they wouldn't suffer any longer. One of my biggest worries is about losing Hobbes as he gets older.
  • I need to see if I can find those here. Certainly some international shop should have them right? Maybe even Amazon??
  • Happy Birthday @Scott6255!! Hope you have a great day. Are you able to spend some time with your brother to celebrate, maybe go for a run together? Thanks for all the birthday wishes! Normally I would get out for a birthday run but will pass this year and make up for it next year when I am not completely fatigued walking…
  • Congratulations @Scott6255 and @quilteryoyo on hitting your year goals! Good luck at RnR @BeverlyW1108!! Hope you have fun with it! @polskagirl01 - Can you send me the recipe for the pecan/walnut cookies? I always bake family favorites during the holiday but don't think I will have it in me this year. Those look especially…
  • I'm in for just 20 miles of walking depending on how I am feeling. December is my last full month of treatments and my energy is non-existent but I know getting out to walk helps.
  • @SummerSkier - I am a honeycrisp gal too. I had never heard of or seen them before my DD moved to the PNW and I would normally go for Pink Ladies then. Now we can find honeycrisp pretty much everywhere. I love them sliced with peanut butter! I also will only use Granny Smith for baking, apple pie, cakes, etc...
  • @quilteryoyo - I think that is the best, healthiest way to approach the holidays. Enjoy it, maybe overdo a little and get right back to your normal eating. It doesn't happen often so don't feel guilty about enjoying yourself! The apple festival was ok. It got really crowded so we basically just walked around (a lot) and…
  • @AlphaHowls - what great birthday presents! I love the time capsule books. It made me LOL! @Laurz9191 - so glad you found your head phones! I got tired of misplacing mine so I have one place where I put them when take them off and that is in the case in the room where I keep it plugged in. @chris_in_cal - glad to see you…
  • Happy Thanksgiving!! Hope no one overate too terribly. My DD made a wonderful dinner and I had a little bit of everything. It was all delicious and of course we have leftovers 😁 Today we are going up to apple country. It is a quirky little area we used to go every year when DD was growing up. We aren't going for it but…
  • @martaindale - what a beautiful place to camp! Love the clouds! Happy Happy Birthday @AlphaHowls! Beautiful sunrise! Happy Thanksgiving to all who are celebrating! We are having a great day and I am not cooking DD is doing all of it including making a lovely breakfast the morning. I did make pumpkin pies but she made a…
  • @Teresa502 - that hike looks so awesome! Makes me wish we were near the AT. @daria0919 - I loved linear algebra and differential equations as well as 3-D Euclidean geometry I guess no one did the Hug a Runner challenge in Run the Year. I wouldn't have realized it was today but a friend posted a picture in FB. She isn't a…
  • @tarun_yadavA - The problem is, as I tell my DH, the degree is in MATH not ARITHMETIC 😂 He was also my math tutor my freshman year in college and after that could not handle the advanced mathematics courses. He's more of a stats, econometrics guy. I had planned to teach but was hired out of college by a large oil company…
  • @polskagirl01 - An Asian friend of mine used to make little cakes filled with bean paste. When my daughter was small she loved those cakes and was sure they were filled with chocolate 😊
  • Fantastic race @eleanorhawkins and I can't believe you ran it almost all in the dark. You really are a bada$$!! Did I read correctly that you ran 40km? Did the other 2 on your team each run the same distance? I agree that you don't need them in your life. You do have all of us cheering you on even if we can't be there to…
  • @daria0919 - Tagging onto what @quilteryoyo said. First I am so sorry about your son. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain of going through that with him. Cancer just sucks. I am one of the older ones in the group and honestly, I may be the oldest active now at 67 and soon to be 68. I didn't start running until my mid…
  • @CMorning99 - I think anywhere you go (not just in CA) they have so many regulations, state, county, city, etc... that it takes forever to work through and even just to figure out who needs what and what needs to be done. It is no wonder that there is a housing shortage pretty much everywhere and especially affordable…
  • @SummerSkier - my favorite sleeves were from Asics. The were lightly lined in a fleece and had a silicone strip around the top edge. They weren't extremely tight and never slipped down. Sadly I lost one on a run when I took them off like @kgirlhart and I have never found any similar. @AlphaHowls - I see you are back to…

  • @AlphaHowls - thanks for setting up November! I will be interested in hearing how training with the bands affects your running endurance. When I was working with a trainer he always told me that strength training enhances running by making all the supportive core muscles that much stronger. Even strengthening your arms…
  • @tarun_yadavA - That was at the Oakland Zoo. I was her primary caretaker from the time she was brought to the zoo as a tiny cub. In the cub picture I think she was about 3-4 months old. She had to be fed round the clock like a baby so I even had her at home in our apartment. I continued to care for her until she was around…
