  • Yeah, I love the community part of the site as well. You are doing great so far and we can both motivate each other! I'll send a friend request.
  • You are gonna do great now that you are started! I suggest thinking up some things you can do when you want to emotionally eat that don't involve food. Some examples for me: take a long shower, go for a walk, go outside, dance around the house to loud music, watch a sappy movie, and, sometimes, yell at the top of my lungs…
  • You can get online and find a frame size calculator. It usually involved measuring your wrist, so have a tape measurer. I am 5ft7 and have a large frame. The lowest size I was able to wear as an adult was a size 10 and I was 140lbs. I am gonna get down there again and maybe with the way pants sizes have changed over the…

  • I use a bodymedia fit too. I have been using it since February. Honestly, I use the BMF for my calories and MFP to log my food. I shoot for a 1000 cal deficit everyday, according to the armband, and feel like I'm getting plenty to eat. I adjust MFP with exercise calories everyday to reflect the numbers that the armband is…
  • This is how I feel. Getting rid of the guilt about giving yourself a treat and knowing that eating food is actually helping you instead of hurting you are two things that have really helped me stay on track.
  • Cool recipe, thanks for posting!
  • LOL, so true!
  • It sounds like you are starting to get more in touch with yourself and your body. You know if you need a break, the more you push yourself the more you are gonna revolt and resent the changes. Maybe you have gone as far as you can this round. I wish you luck in your future journey and hope you can reach your goals in your…

  • I think you are safe if you eat more the next day after eating too little. You are going for 3500 calories gone over the course of a week (or 7000 if you are trying to lose 2 lbs). So it's fine if your daily deficits combined make the 3500. If you are sick your body also needs the food for energy getting better so eating…
  • Protein is good for you and if you don't feel sick and are meeting you calorie goals you are fine going over on protein. I actually set my goal higher because I want to get over 100g of protein a day. It keeps me satisfied and less hungry.
  • I think you could just start by eating all the same foods you love but in smaller portions and log everything here on MFP. You'll start thinking about what you are eating and you'll be losing weight (if you stay at your calorie goal). You can do it!
  • This is so true for me, too. It took a lot of emotional introspection to start loving myself enough to make the changes stick. One of my favorite things to think is "I'm doing the best me I can in each moment." (This thought frees me from the constant self-judgement and harsh self-criticism I used to practice.)
  • Ditto.
  • I started out with mine at sedentary, but just recently moved it up to light activity. I wear a bodymedia fit and it said that I had started burning more calories everyday because of all the exercise. So I bet light activity would work better for you then sedentary.
  • Your hard work is definitely paying off! Great job, very inspiring! :)
  • My husband and I both got numb feet and changed to using vibram fivefinger shoes when we workout. No more numbness!
  • I love sweet tea too, I probably don't make it right, being from Colorado, but I put a stevia sugar substitute in it and I love it! I think mine is called Stevia in the Raw, but it's probably close enough to truvia. So don't deprive yourself of something you really love!
  • I have been on synthroid for hypothyroidism for 7 years. It took about a couple months for me to feel ok after getting diagnosed and put on medication. I have been overweight the entire time, but have lost weight normally (and gained it back) during that time too. I think my hair is a little thinner than it might be…
  • I think it would really help if you had some other ways to deal with stress. Do you like to take a hot bath, read books, listen to music, look at photo albums, cry your eyes out, hit a pillow and scream at the top of your lungs? These things all help me when I am emotionally stressed. They won't take the cause of your…

  • As for the testosterone and muscle building, this would be a good question for your doctor. I have PCOS and I have lost lbs and inches. But it could be different for everyone. In my opinion, if you are working a lot of weights you might see the inches first.

  • Congratulations! My husband and I were just talking about this this morning. He tried on a nice dress shirt that used to be kinda tight in the neck and now it's like a tent. So exciting to see the changes...but it stinks to have to give up the expensive clothes (or the favorites).

  • I love all the advice on here. It's reminded me, it's okay to be a little self-focused because you are the one that has to live in your body and your life. Also, sometimes you just have to have "the talk" with your loved ones and they realize that what you are doing is making you happier and healthier and that's exactly…
  • It could be that the tea is irritating your stomach and causing you to feel pain that you are interpretting as hunger. When my stomach allergies kick up that's exactly how it feels to me at first (like I am hungry), but really it's stomach pain. Just a thought.
  • I'm glad to hear that your TOM is becoming regular. Hopefully you will have no trouble concieving now that you can more accurately guess your ovulation time. I have PCOS too and did get pregnant after losing weight, but not right away. It took me getting an ovulation test kit. It turned out that the time I was ovulating…
  • I just get them to use as meal replacements. I don't know about the building muscle part. But the chocolate ones are tasty and go good over shredded wheat or crunchy flax as a higher protein milk replacement. And the best part for me is that they don't have soy!
  • I agree with accountant_boi. You would be best off seeing a nutritionist and getting advice from that front if you are looking for specific foods to eat and avoid. Beyond that, just remember that you can make the changes a little at a time if it feels overwhelming and you will still be doing something good for you health.…
