no.
MFP`s protein reccomendation is half of what it should be.
Aim to double what they suggest.0 -
I don't think so.. I think fiber and protein are a safe place to be over.. if you are finding you are having trouble loosing then maybe backing off a little.. but as long as its lean protein I say go for it.0

Protein is good for you and if you don't feel sick and are meeting you calorie goals you are fine going over on protein. I actually set my goal higher because I want to get over 100g of protein a day. It keeps me satisfied and less hungry.0

You might want to use the "Search" link at top. The topic has been covered elsewhere, including here:

The consensus was, no, it isn't bad as long as you don't go absurdly over so that your body can still process it. Protein helps you feel fuller longer, so to me it's a bonus when you can get the protein without the fat and calories.0 -
Oh that's good because I always seem to go over on my protein too!!
I'm a vegetarian so have always made sure I eat lots of protein rich things as I obviously don't eat meat to give me protein! But MFP kept saying I was going over!
I'd rather be over on protein that fat or calories anyway0 -

I agree!!! I also have no ability to eat the amount of carbs they recommend--especially w/ the sugars so low; if I eat 2 servings of fruit in a day, I'm over on sugars.
I'm not sure where they get their numbers, but I've just been most concerned w/ overall calories and not going too crazy with sugar and sodium.0 -
There are many web sites that talk about protein, but I found this on MSNBC...

How much protein do you need for good health?
As a general rule, between 10 percent and 15 percent of your total calories should come from protein. So, if you consume 2,000 calories per day, at least 200 should come from protein, or about 50 grams. You should try to eat around one gram of protein per one kilogram of body weight, or around 0.4 grams per pound. An easier way to figure this out in your head is to take your weight, divide it in half, and subtract 10. The total will be the number of grams of protein you should consume each day. So, if you weigh 120 pounds, you should eat about 50 grams of protein.
You do have the option to change your setting for your protein so you don't see that "unhappy" red number.
Hope that helps.0 -
I've upped mine as well, you have to do it manually.
Rule of thumb is 1gram of protien per pound of body weight.
Sounds like a lot but if does wonders for fat loss!!!

I am new to MFP and didn't even see the search button or I would have used it...sorry.0
