I could eat trail mix / mixed nuts all the live long day and not feel full.

Wish there was a way to pin this D: oh well. Thank you!

I like Applegate because it isn't owned by a major corporation. The same cannot be said for the vast majority of organic and natural food producers (see: http://www.cornucopia.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Updated-Organic2013.pdf) Amy's Kitchen, Nature's Path, and Clif Bar are some other independently owned companies.

Do you live near a Trader Joe's? Their frozen pie crust is excellent, and sans trans fats.
-
So you are logging neither the cream in your coffee nor the soda you drink daily? Most likely you are underestimating your intake -- food as well as the unlogged drink calories.

Loved reading this thread, learned a lot and no belittling / patronizing other posters for differences in opinions and beliefs -- thanks guys! ;D

I am partial to Fage 2% or full fat. Don't like 0% (fat free) at all. Noosa is scrumptious but it isn't Greek yogurt. Dannon and Yoplait are full of crap, literally and figuratively. Blech.

For any raw fruit or veggie, include the word "raw" in the search and look for the one without any asterisk.
-
Nope.

I eat fruit all day every day, sometimes right before bed, and it has not affected my weight loss. Whatever evidence is backing up statements like this apparently does not apply to everyone.
-
Boardwalk fries.
-
I agree with offering to cook. Seems like a win for everyone involved. I hope your MIL responds well to treatments.

Stay active, lose 1.5-2 pounds. I'm less than five from my "goal", so taking it slowly now.

Doesn't Skinny Cow taste like chemicals to anyone else? I tried one of their ice cream sandwiches at someone else's house and didn't know what brand it was until after I tried it . . . it tasted like cardboard and chemicals to me :-/

Bread, ketchup, salsa, pickles, cold cuts, canned soup . . .

Though I am all for precision of language myself, I have sort of grown out of correcting people over semantics (besides my sixth grade students, of course). But some people think it their duty to go around acting superior. :-P
-
I believe the semantics of the word "starving" is what's being questioned here. To be "starving" is to be severely suffering / dying from hunger.
-
I love Brie too -- it's perfect on pears. I have some sort of cheese almost every day. Certainly hasn't hindered my weight loss.

To respond to the OP, "natural" peanut butter, which should contain only peanuts and (if you want) salt, is becoming more and more common in the US. It's a little pricier, but well worth it. IMO peanut butter doesn't need and shouldn't have sugar, and it certainly shouldn't have partially hydrogenated oils.
-
Unfortunately both of these statements are incorrect. Though the trans fat is listed as 0 on the nutrition facts label, if there are partially hydrogenated oils in the ingredients, the peanut butter DOES have trans fat. There is a loophole in the labeling law that allows for a serving size of less than half a gram of trans…
-
I tried freezing 0% Greek yogurt and the consistency was awful. I read somewhere that you need to add more sugar.
-
Can you PLEASE post SOME kind of evidence to back up a statement like this? Unless one has gastritis, gastric reflux or some other issue already present, I have never heard of such a thing.
-
Since you posted the statement, the ball is in your court to provide evidence to back it up.

I don't want to live a little, I want to live a lot. By being healthy.
-
Raspberries, blackberries, pears, thin sliced whole wheat bread, baby carrots, peas :-D
-
Dried fruit is very low in fat and you would be amazed at how it adds up if you're sitting there snacking on it. Even the no sugar added varieties. I love the organic Turkish apricots, Blenheim apricots, and white peaches (all dried) at Trader Joe's. Also, pasta.

Nothing wrong with having a small amount every day. The problem with Nutella is that people believe it's healthy, or a healthy substitute for peanut butter. There's almost nothing nutritional about it, but should be considered a treat. Go for it ;-)

Good for you for being willing to change things, and best of luck.
