  • Don't eat the calories "earned" by exercise! And take your measurements, everywhere imaginable... . On the weeks when the scale doesn't budge, you may get smaller somewhere - which is just as motivating!
  • Feel free to add me! I'm getting back on board, after losing 40 lbs before my Panama Canal Cruise. Gave myself a week to lose the cruise weight before jumping back on here full time. I do zumba classes and aqua zumba classes twice a week - with a little added tabata in the pool after aqua zumba. Very few of my friends are…
  • Are you eating the calories you "earn" by exercise? I try very hard NOT to do that. Only eat those exercise calories if I'm feeling deprived or starving. Otherwise, those are the calories that help me lose. Good luck!

  • I joined MFP last July as part of my 2013 New Year's Resolution of trying/doing something new (& a little out of my comfort zone) every month. MFP and that resolution have really changed my approach to life. One of the things I added was Aqua Zumba. Getting into a swimsuit for the first time in 5 years at 188.6 took some…
  • Hi Angelina, I'm Susan in Lawrence Ks. Here are the two most general helpful hints I can give you about using MFP ~ 1) Try not to eat your added exercise calories! 2) Measure every part of your body you can get a measuring tape around. And remeasure every week or 2. The weeks when the scale don't move much are the weeks I…
  • Lose 10 more pounds - although I have a cruise next month - but it's a Fun & Fitness cruise, so plenty of exercise classes and healthy food choices available for those 2 weeks.
  • Hi Chuck, Wow! Great weight loss! Congratulations! I'm going on a 15 day cruise through the Panama Canal! I've had fun going to thrift stores to find a new wardrobe, especially for formal night's dining. Will be a great escaping all this winter weather and hopefully come back to find spring on the doorstep.
  • I'm sticking with my Zumba Gold, Aqua Zumba, and Aqua Tabata classes. They're fun! My New Year's resolution last year was to try something new every month. It was so much fun, I'm doing it for the rest of my life! Aqua Zumba, and Aqua Tabata were part of that resolution, along with a fantastic trip to Portugal! Tons of…
  • I'm having a great year, so far. Continuing to track food, exercise, and lose consistently, both pounds and inches! I love My Fitness Pal. It changed the way I eat in 3 days. I had already upped my exercise, 3 months before joining, but had only lost 3 pounds doing Zumba Gold and Aqua Zumba sessions for a total of 4 a…
  • "Just Keep Me Movin" by KD Lang is great for slow movement workouts like lunges, squats, and free weights.
  • I've come up with a tasty side dish for pork using finely chopped zucchini. Using a teaspoon of sesame oil in a nonstick skillet, I cook the zucchini with chopped onion and as it's cooking I sprinkle on about a teaspoon of Alpine Spiced Apple Cider sugar free drink mix powder. Gives it a very delicate apple taste. Then I…
  • I'm having trouble recording the arm exercises I do with free weights. I don't know what any of the moves are called. Guess I need to hunt online for the terms, like "overhead tricep extension" and "front deltoid raise". Yeah, I'm an exercise virgin.

  • Hi Paige, I set my goal for 1/2 pound a week at first, so I wouldn't get too discouraged. I'm finding it very motivational to eat right, and love it when I add my exercise and the number of calories I can eat bounces up. It also encourages me when I hit the final entry for the day button and it tells me what I'll weigh in…

  • So glad Susan P. suggested this! It's just the food tracking motivation I need to go along with the zumba efforts. ~ Susan Buchanan
