Hi, I'm a Mom of two DD. I have been off an on this site and sparkpeople for a few years but usually keep to myself, but I would love to surround myself with other motivated people.

I was on lexapro a while back and gained about 15lb while on it. As soon as I got off I dropped that weight. Unfortunately, weight gain is one of the side effects to a lot of antidepressants.

Runners World has a 9 week. If you were already running before then there should be no problem skipping the first couple of weeks. I found that and another one, that I'm doing a combo of for my 1/2 mid May, by googling half marathon training. Good Luck, and do push yourself too hard. The injuries are not worth it!

I'm right there with you. I have been yoyoing 2 of the 5 lbs that I have lost. I have been running 20-25 miles a week training for a half and keeping in line with my calories - and no results. So frustrating!!! I'm beginning to wonder if I'm not eating enough calories over all. Perhaps my body is in "starvation mode". On…

I gained 10+ lbs when I was nursing. And kept it (at the expense of my milk supply) until I stopped nursing. When I stopped nursing I lost the 10 I gained, and still had the pregnancy weight to loose. Just keep active and drink plenty of water. When you wean it will probably drop right off. Right now feeding your baby is…

I like tuna mixed with balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, paprika and dill. Mediterainian-ish (sorry, I can't spell :|) or turkey slices.

I'm right with you! I drink a lot of water, and minty teas help me feel like I have eaten something. I know it's not for everyone, but kale is amazingly filling (and pretty tasty in salads after a quick steam bath). I allow myself a small sweet treat like a Kiss or a Twizzler, just so I don't go crazy thinking about not…

I had a friend who lost serious inches before she lost much weight, muscel weighs more than fat. Go by how you feel not by the scale. Look for non scale victories. I gained 2 lbs, but my clothes fit better :) you can do this!

Welcome! You've already made a great start and good luck with the rest of your journey. I'm still pretty new (15 days) here and have found it to be a pretty supportive and helpful place. Feel free to add me as a friend.

This is not in the "health food section" but a book that I love is the Meatless Gourmet books. It has very easy recipies and tells the nutritional break down of the recipe. Everything I have made from this has been delicious and I get many requests for the recipies. I have had them for about 15 years now.

You have "water on the knees". I got it a few years ago. You need to take some time off the workout routine, do something very lowe impact like yoga or pilates. It will go away in a week or two. It's like a blister on the cartilage under the patella, it's the beginning of ware on the joint.. Ice and heat alternate…

Thanks for the tips everyone! I'm training for the Historic Half in Fredricksburg, VA. It will be my first half, although I'm a 5k veteran. The course doesn't look too bad, and it will be at lower altitude than I run at now.

Hi Michelle, I'm pretty new here myself and have already found this sight to be helpful and supportive. Good luck on your journey!

I have not done this myself, but I have many friends who have. Just like anything, it works if you want it to. I'm personally training for a 1/2 marathon in May and doing a 12 week beginners programme. The courses are similar, just my runs are longer. They are great for building stamina and energy. Good Luck! And beware,…
