  • Hi @cyndi2012. Sorry 'bout delay, been away and all that..No, didn't get e-bike but did hire one for an hour. Great for hills but somewhat restrictive when traveling over the 15.5mph assistance limit,(UK). That might not be so bad if I were fitter and stronger but for longer distances, I'd want that assistance limit to be…
  • I'll definitely try and contribute to the page.✍️ 🙂 Another interest of mine is photography and I have a couple of projects to fulfill this year. The e-bike should help me with carrying the gear and traveling the distance. In fact my pic < was taken on the popular Exeter to Exmouth Walking/Cycling trail. I'd struggle to do…
  • Exeter here; xxth re-start and making plans for Spring...again.🤞
  • Just popping in after a 6mnth break. Am toying with the idea of getting an e-bike for the Spring. Age, over-weight and general unfitness is prompting this. My cycling activity fell away once the hip arthritis kicked in about 2010. If an e-bike gets me out and about for the same time that I spend indoors, it'll prove…
  • All good comments there. When the weight goes down I do feel better, more energised, sleep better and don't get breathless; those are the symptoms, amongst others, that I'm on the right track. It's that one occasion of not logging that can upset the applecart. " I'll log in tomorrow, it'll be fine." Err, probably not.. I…
  • I've just replaced the batteries in both my food and bathroom scales. They are now more stable, so I'd recommend replacing if you find numbers altering as you use them..
  • I only drink this now. THE wine for cyclists Haha! Actually, it's very nice, £6 a bottle...:-)
  • Rural Devon with a pub thrown in for good measure! Being a Tuesday lunchtime, I had the place to myself. 15 miles, couple of hills; leisurely ride.
  • '60s - 2 tone blue 'Triumph' '70s - Halfords bike ?. Yellow, then respray to red. 90s - Maroon /silver 'Townsend' " - Dk Green 'Rigeback' 2000+ Slate grey 'Cannondale' CAAD Hybrid 2013 Silver 'Dawes' folder/shopper. Easy for having had Hip-replacement. Now.. Dk Grey/red 'Giant' Escape. Can get 'leg-over' now and planning…
  • "I shall not, EVER AGAIN, take a selfie, and cause an eclipse to happen on the far bathroom wall. The next one will cast a mere faint shadow. "
  • Having got a new lighter weight Giant, I plan to explore many of the country, traffic free lanes nearby. Since the onset of hip trouble some years ago, I've slacked off. That's now fixed and there's no excuses left. 15-20 milers at weekends should be feasable by Spring..
  • I'm so impressed with this thread; great pics, inspiration and variety. I've slacked off for a few months but now it's time to turn around and go for it.. N.
  • I use a bar-end mirror. Since I have had a hip replacement, I always wear a helmet and the mirror lets me know what's behind. I'm trying to minimise the risk of injury in order not to end up in A&E! N.
  • Hi avskk. Your pics don't look too bad. I use Photobucket which has a pretty good settings system for adjustments. Then there are a number of free editing programs - Google 'Best free photo editing software' You can also place a lamp nearby and prop a sheet of white paper nearby to bounce light back onto the subject. Check…

  • When I do beef mince, I try to get the leanest quality and then add; frozen mixed veg, onion, garlic, r&g peppers, chillies, kidney beans, mixed herbs, seasoning and whatever else comes to mind. I do this for meals such as stews and curries, it's a healthy option and provides more portions which you can then freeze. I only…
  • Having suffered hip arthritis. I got this 2 yrs ago; 'step-thru' was easier for me. Now I'm glad to say that, after my operation in September, I'm easing back into cycling. I'd prefer a larger wheel size tho, so may upgrade later in the year...If the rain would just stop that would be marvelous..
  • This'll have to do for now. First week in April will be the date for getting below 13st...:-)
  • Hi everyone, Glad I found this board.. I'm Nick, 61, and living in Exeter, UK. Since 1992 I've had a bike to commute and explore much of the SW in my spare time. That was until my hip arthritis started to make it difficult and I then stopped altogether mid 2012. At that time, I'd bought a Dawes folder but put less than…
  • This programme was only recommended to me the other day; I don't have or watch TV so can only view thru iPlayer. Seen episode 1 so will watch eps. 2 later this afternoon. Seems interesting so far tho.... N.
  • Exeter, Devon .... ( coz there's one in the US..) :drinker:
  • I walked into a Led Zeppelin soundcheck in Perth Oz, 72..Took loads of photos but don't know if they survived the last 40+ years, must track them down.. Led Zeppelin - Deep Purple - Manfred Mann - Tangerine Dream - Savoy Brown - Stevie Wonder - Police - Robert Plant....
  • ATM - day 10 - I'm doing 2sets of 30 'ab crunches' and 2sets of 20 dumbell 'bicep curls'. I'm just trying to get the ab muscles & upper body in some sort of shape, nothing too spectacular. The dumbells are about 7Kg each. Will add a couple more exercises over next few weeks, very slight improvement I think..
  • I used to play and it can be very sociable, club, competitions etc. Go for it. A bonus; get a bike and cycle to and from the club/venue. N.
  • I like both red & white and pop up to the pub 3 days a week and enter about 20mins 'Slow walking' cals. I've just put a desktop app on my PC to clock my intake - mostly within limits :drinker: - courtesy of the NHS....
  • Cheers Roger, yep that pretty much what I guessed it would be... N.
  • Just seen this..I'm well impressed..keep on keeping on.. N.
