for someone attempting to finish a 1:30:00 half marathon this has to be the most ridiculous advice i've ever heard.

i can't handle running with anything on my hips so i have a Scott Jurek UD Vest. i like the bottles instead of a bladder and having them on my chest is a lot more comfortable than having the weight on my back. the quality is outstanding. http://www.ultimatedirection.com/p-629-sj-ultra-vest-20.aspx

just to clarify i am a guy. i can do about 8 or 9 pullups for set #1. then i usually do sets of 5 or 6 reps. i just picked a number. i'll probably do more. but posting this will keep me from slacking off on them.

June goals run 100 miles 1000 pushups 500 ab rolls 500 pullups

she should definitely be up front then. at some of the bigger races i've run it says in the rules that the placings and prizes would be awarded based on the actual order of finish and if you think you will be in the running for placing then you should line yourself up accordingly.

are you racing to win? if not does it really matter if you finish 150th or 180th or 1800th?
-
i have a 410. it does what i need it to. i'll wait till it dies to get something new. garmin connect however is useless so i don't even bother logging in anymore except to check the distances of courses i want to run.

running my first 'real ultra' at the end of the month, but i did 48km as part of a 6 person relay last year and it was an awesome experience. a 24 hour party like atmosphere in the mountains. my favorite distance so far have been a number of trail races around 8-12 km long.

interesting take.... look at the results of a large half marathon and you're going to see ALOT of people that are over 2 hours.
-
about 90% trails. the only time i run on the road is to get TO the trails or from trail to trail.
-
those are my favorite too. easy to chew and they taste pretty good as well.

i was just in MEC yesterday and noticed GU comes in Root Beer flavor now. has anyone tried it?
-
power cleans are the one move i don't see a problem dropping the weights on. deadlifts....well that's another thing. 15:20 seems like a pretty decent time to me. you're either in a class with some really good athletes or some people are shorting their runs.

mine says 207 lbs which i'm sure would be 'ideal for racing', but i would not want to be walking around that light.
-
i don't know anything about the SD set up but here's my big race experience i ran disney in Orlando in 2013 (the year before they cut back the entry numbers - approx 25,000 runners i believe) and there were definite bottle necks at some spots to the point where we had to actually walk. it was confirmed in the first 5…

you don't need to cycle creatine. 15g is a waste, but it's dirt cheap so i guess it really doesn't matter.
-
3-5 grams every day. timing doesn't matter.
-
for my 50k trail ultra at the end of May which i've been told is death by a 1000 hills C - Finish B - under 6:30 A - under 6:00

i really enjoyed Eat and Run by Scott Jurek. Run or Die by Kilian wasn't a very good read at all.

drove 6 hours from Charleston, SC to Orlando for a disney race the day before. it didn't affect us 'leg-wise'. we ended up spending the entire day walking around the parks after the race as well.
-
that would be awesome. i have a shorter 100km stage race in Tunisia on my list. http://www.100kmdelsahara.com/index.php?lang=uk also i'd love to one day be able to attempt Sinister 7 solo, but 100 miles is a long way! i ran 2 legs of it last year as part of a relay http://www.sinister7.com/main.php road marathons don't…

i used the screws too. i wore yaktraks for the first 6 miles of a half and they were more annoying than anything so i took them off after the first loop. i don't notice the screws at all and they work really well.
-
good luck! get lots of rest. i ran the 1/2 in 2013 and the only advice i have is that if you or your friends/family want to go to the park and on the rides the day of the 1/2 is the day to do it. we went back to the park after our race and it was dead there. my only guess is that the people running the marathon (and the…

impressive!

i did this last year as well. works great.

i have 3 screens that i flip thru on mine. 1. total time/distance/pace 2. lap time/distance/pace 3. elevation/direction when i don't want to over analyze my pace i just flip it to the 3rd screen so i can't see my time/distance/pace anymore
-
what's your goal for the race? you have run a 1/2 in the past? i've run a half in february in winter conditions (snow, slush, wind) and there was no way i was going to set a PB that day so i just ran the best race i could for those conditions. if you have a decent base then i wouldn't be worried about losing out one 3-5…

6.75 km trail race Wednesday in 37:59

i haven't seen that, but ever since they switched the format online my watch has only been loading my last run onto the website. if i run 5 times in between uploads the first 4 runs never show up. very frustrated with it lately. maybe it's time to retire my 410.

best i've done hang clean 225 lbs OHP 225 lbs done at different times....numbers aren't that high at the moment.
