to wear a skirt / dress without my legs rubbing together! also .... to wear trousers that don't give me a muffin top (I have skinny legs and a big tummy, so they either drown me in the legs and bum or leave me with the unattractive tummy bulge)

aahhhhh!! LOVE this! what a brilliant NSV! Putting the size aside (and that's achievement enough) its lovely that your daughter sees your efforts are working!!
-
I love this!!! Am on the cusp of not knowing whether I'm a 14 / 16 / 18 aswell! I tried on a size 14 dress last week and it fitted - one of the best moments of the past decade!!

if you search under cardio for 'strength training' it does add calories ...... I use that, but as the above poster said, it's difficult to know if its accurate Edited to add: Welcome to MFP by the way ..... Good luck xx

I'm at half way and am having the same sort of trouble!! It's the school holidays, and because I usually use the time my kids are at school/nursery to work out it means I can't get in as much as usual!! I feel like I'm just about keeping my head above water and counting the days til I can jump back on full pelt!! Good…

*like* Good luck with it all xx

I can't answer your question, I'm only half way to my goal ...... but I just wanted to say well done on the amazing loss!! Great work xx
-
depends how much you have to lose - 2lbs a week is not an unhealthy loss!!
-
I log mine as something generic I found - its probably way more than it actually is (23cals a mug) but I've kept it the same because the mug I use is massive!!!!

Great advice! My stance on the great 'eating back exercise calories' has always been 'I dont eat them back, but I am aware that this might be something I need to play about with as the weeks / months roll on' Listen to what your body is telling you - its a clever tool!
-
your allowance will decrease as you lose weight .... mine started at 1380 but after 46lbs i'm down to 1200 a day now ...... I expect mine will increase to about 1700 / 1800 a day when maintaining
-
I log it as 20 minutes circuit training aswell!
-
I always add a couple of things on to my diary before completing .... like a cup of tea and a piece of fruit or yogurt ..... that i can eat later in the evening - if you pre-plan a snack it might make it easier!
-
did you put on any weight when you stopped? cause it might still have your starting weigh as the original weight and if you put some on it'll take a while to catch back up to that????

Hi Ste, I'm right down the other end of the UK - South of London but not quite to Brighton, however send me a friends request if you're looking for support! I started here on March 6th and I seriously can't praise the site enough, its been the one factor that has made me ACTUALLY do it this time round! If you're looking…

Sounds amazing! I'm UK based so can't join you but I hope you get a great team together!!! We want photos when you've done it!!!!

12 stone and 3lbs is 171lbs ...... 11 stone and 12lbs is 166lbs - so yes, I come up with a 5lbs loss too! Don't know why the calculations are out! (it could be because by putting 12.3 stone its saying you're 12 stone and 0.3lbs rather than 12 stone and 3lbs and 11.12 puts you at just over 11 stone and 1lb rather than 11…

You've hit ONE-derland!! well done ...... I'm 8.9lbs away from it myself and soooo excited!!
-
I'll dip in to them if I'm hungry but I don't eat them otherwise! I understand the logic behind eating them though so I just keep and eye on my progress and if what I'm currently doing stops working I'll adjust my outlook!

the elliptical says I burn more calories than the treadmill .... both machines have HRM on the handles which I have purposely held the entire time to check accuracy. FYI - even at level 1 I can still burn more doing 30 minutes elliptical than I can doing 30 minutes alternating jogging / walking fast on the treadmill

I tried an online test and it came back at 28% ...... i think my tiny wrists and forearms fooled it slightly! I went to the gym and used the supersonic machine there with hand grips and it came back at 40% ..... eeeeeeek! Moral of the story - online testing wasn't accurate!! :o(

I generally jump on the scales every morning, after going to the toilet but before anything to eat or drink. I only record my weight on a Sunday morning though as this is my weigh in day. Throughout the week my weight goes up and down but I know this is going to happen so it doesn't discourage me - if you are at risk of…

Thank you for posting this! Really interesting!! I've know for a while I was wearing the wrong size but this has helped me know what to try to rectify it!!
-
above what you've written it says home / recent posts / my topics / signature / search if you click on signature and paste it there it'll appear under your posts well done on the weight lost!!! :o)

I haven't changed my diet MUCH ...... I've cut out all the chocolate and crisps etc for the most part (I still have them sometimes) but my meals have stayed pretty much the same! I guess it depends what you're eating already! If its fast food every day then getting a kids meal might help you lose weight in the short term…

I read that its just above where you can feel the top of your hip bone .... and your hip measurement is down at the top of your thighs. But I agree with other posters .... as long as you're measuring the same place each time it doesn't matter if you're not too accurate
-
I still class myself as a newbie too ..... I'm 15 weeks in! But my 3 pieces of advice are: 1. Get yourself a good support network of friends. They'll cheer with you through the good bits and support/motivate you through the tough bits! 2. Log everything, good and bad. Own what you've eaten because not only will it stop you…

I had a dream the other night that I weighed in at +12lbs from the previous week and was devastated!! I woke up in a bit of a sweat!!
-
I don't worry about times in terms of weight loss - certain foods will give me indigestion if I eat them before bed but weight loss wise I don't have 'rules' about times of day

I think a lot of people are surprised by how easy it is to go over without even thinking about it!! Trick is learning to jump back on .... I'm 14 weeks in and I have bad days too, but its key to your success to just accept it wasn't a great day and get back on it tomorrow. No guilt, no regret, no beating yourself up!
