Overhauled my diet, and threw in 6 days a week of exercise.

Well I just started MFP again after baby #2, but I used MFP to get back to my normal weight after baby #1 :) For weight maintenence my biggest advice is do. not. quit. exercising! As far as food goes, to maintain your weight you can be more generous with calories. If I'm eating something extra and it is healthful I don't worry so much about the calories even if they are extra I'm not burning off. If it's junk I definately take notice.

I weight weekly and become strict with calorie count/exercise if I go over 5 lbs more than my ideal weight. But fluctuation is normal with the monthly cycles, etc. I always seem to put on a pound or two after hitting weights really hard with acompanying soreness for 2-3 days after the workout...

Have you tried reading Happyhealthy's maintainence diary on MiniMins? She's reached her goal weight and is now trying reach a level of calorie intake that stops her weight loss without putting too much on. I must say, it sounds almost harder than losing the weight in the first place. At least we know we have to eat less calories than we use

Healthful snacks --> something that can be harvested raw from the earth. Not processed "healthy" diet snack crap.

I'm still figuring out maintenance. I'd start by picking an okay range to fluctuate in so you don't freak when you gain a pound or two, and then start playing with food, exercise, and lifestyle to figure out what works for you. Basically I now eat the same things I did before, just a little more of it.

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on getting there!!! *applause, applause* :drinker:
I reached my goal weight almost a year ago this month and at that time decided to go even further and lose that extra 10 lbs. I reached my ultimate goal in October of last year and have been maintaining that loss ever since.
I am not going to say that maintenance is easy. :noway: it's not. But...I have learned so much about eating and choosing the right foods throughout this journey and feel I have truly made a lifestyle change. :glasses:
Here is how I manage day to day:
First and foremost, remember this statement:
Just because you have lost weight doesn't mean it will now magically stay off by itself. :noway:
Keep portion size in mind at all times. Also, steer clear of fried, saucy, cheesy, creamy food. There are so many healthier, tastier choices!
Eat small meals throughout the day. (Check my diary for tips on this.) :blushing:
Treat yourself occasionally. This doesn't mean eat an entire 5 lb box of chocolates! :noway:
Make good food choices when eating out.
Most importantly...Keep moving. exercise should not stop because you have reached your goal. besides, it will keep you in shape and make you feel good.

I wish you the best of luck for the rest of your life...you go girl! :flowerforyou:
