great advice. I'm doing SS as well :) great starting point. just don't take the nutrition advice from that book, it's for people who want to be powerlifters... scooby has also done a review of this book and recommends it :)

Did everyone leave?

As a beginning weight lifter your focus should be on mastering technique. Proper form and using the whole rom (range of motion) will be a challenge at the start. Don't focus on getting stronger but on mastering the excercises. After a while you will see your strength increase and then you can add weight as you see fit.…

reporting back in. I was on holiday! SW (12/1): 109.0 Kg (240.3 lbs) GW (3/1): 100.0 Kg (220.5 lbs) 5th of january weigh in: 107.8 kg (237.6 lbs) this week: 105.2 Kg (231.9 lbs) it's going great! :) 5 weeks left to lose 5 kg (approx 10 pounds) . it is still possible, but it's going to be tough!

i'm back! i was on holiday from 10 till 20 jan... and then i had a really crazy week at work. still dieting, still working out.. still losing weight. will be joining in on the next weigh-in. still on track to reach the 100 kg mark before march 1st! :)

eating clean all week :) seeing my weight is lowering , MFP calculated a new daily max calorie intake... it is now 1520.. which I'm having a hard time with. I can make 1600-1700, but not less.. still a huge deficit for a guy like me, and i'm adding muscle mass like crazy, so no big deal :) another 7 kg and I can start…

SW (12/1): 109.0 Kg (240.3 lbs) GW (3/1): 100.0 Kg (220.5 lbs) last week: 107.8 kg (237.6 lbs) this week: 106.8 Kg (235.5 lbs) great week! since christmas, I started eating clean again, with one cheat day, new year's eve. lost a whole kg! great feeling after being stuck around the 108 kg mark for 2 weeks! I really feel…

eat clean for an entire week (7 days) and work out 3 times! time to get below the 106.5 kg mark. I've been 106,5 for a short while, about 5 years ago, and then gained back up to 128 kg. the 106,5 is quite the mental barrier for me, and breaking it this month would mean a lot and will motivate me! :)

happy new year! :) those 4 pounds are most likely also water... those will be gone in a heartbeat, I'm sure! :) I didn't gain any weight, but also didn't lose any. going to the gym tonight to get a good workout in! :)

SW (12/1): 109.0 Kg (240.3 lbs) GW (3/1): 100.0 Kg (220.5 lbs) 2 weeks ago: 108.2 Kg (238.5 lbs) this week: 107.8 Kg little change. but it's still going down :) quite happy because I really ate a lot during christmas (I also worked out a lot.. so I guess it was enough!)
-
well.. I'm back home (I was with my parents for a week) and I gained 200 grams.. ..which just might be water.. so quite the victory, because I haven't counted calories all week.. I did do all my excercise :) so, back on track with counting calories now! 8 kg (20 pounds) to go in 8 weeks. it's possible but it's going to be…

Ran today. Did weight training on sunday. I deadlifted 330 pounds. Finally found my max. Now it's time to train for the 400 pound mark! Going for a run on the 26th and 28th to complete my scheme this week. Ran 4 minutes nonstop for the first time in my life today! :)
-
Im skipping this weigh in. Am not near my regular scale.. So any reading would be inaccurate. Ill join in on the next weigh in :)
-
Only one goal: run 3 times this week to build up some extra calories to spend on christmas eve. :) Good luck everyone, and merry christmas!

don't get hung up on figures too much. if you do some mild to light weight training your body will look much better, even with a higher fat percentage. muscle also takes up much less room as the same weight in fat, so you might still weigh quite a lot, but have a healthy fat percentage.. fat% is a good measurement to…

thanks! :) probably not getting stronger, but just my nervous system getting used to moving higher weights... I haven't reached my maximum yet... still, for a novice lifter @ 108 kg , 130 kg is quite a lot... :)
-
NAILED IT! :) I squatted 8x60 kg and 10x 80 kg, and I deadlifted 8x80 and 10x100 kg and one time 130. going for 150 kg (330 pounds) in the coming 2 weeks... (I feel like I've been run over by a train... but that's ok. no serious pain, just DOMS :) )
-
only one this week: deadlift 130 kg (285 pounds) going at it tonight! :)
-
you should change your weight so your bodyfat % is at a "healthy" number... say.. 28% as you get closer to your goal weight and bodyfat% , if you work out, you will see your lean mass increase because of increased muscle mass. good choice raising your goal weight. bodyfat percentage is a much better number to measure your…

good work you guys :) it feels great if you can get new, smaller clothes! I have not lost any weight this week, but i did get some runs in on friday and sunday. those felt great. I at a lot of pastry and candy because of the holiday we had on the 5th.. and I just couldn't resist.. I also ate fast food (Fries) on saturday,…

SW (12/1): 109.0 Kg (240.3 lbs) GW (3/1): 100.0 Kg (220.5 lbs) Last week: 108.2 Kg (238.5 lbs) this week: 108.2 Kg (238.5 lbs) no change.. I ate waaay too much because of the holidays, but I did work out enough... I'm happy if i'm below 108.0 kg after christmas.. after that I can concentrate on my food again :)

I don't see why not :) but I'm not a moderator :P

lifting is great! mind you, if you start lifting for the first time, you will gain weight in the beginning (water and muscle). it will seem like your weight loss is slowing down. therefore, measure your waist to see if you're still burning fat. if you're doing it right (eating at a defecit, and properly lifting) , your…

good work on the 5 miles! good effort pushing yourself! :) went to the gym yesterday I deadlifted 265 pounds!
